Legrand Legacy pays tribute to the classics [Kickstarter]

I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of games come out of Indonesia, but I’m very excited to share this one. Developer Semisoft is creating what looks to be a fantastic JRPG-style turn based tactical game entitled Legrand Legacy. More than that, it looks to take a lot of the fantastic genre improvements from the last 20 years and incorporate them. Epic battles with giant bosses, active combat (correctly timed attacks that you and your enemy can lace into combat actions), recruiting and building an army of NPC, a tactical minigame to deploy your standing army, rebuilding a ruined castle to become your headquarters, and a full crafting engine just scratches the surface of what the team is trying to build.

The team is roughly 1/5th of the way to their goal with 24 days to go on Kickstarter (it’s already been approved for Steam Greenlight), but the nice part is that you don’t have to take my word for it. The team released a pre-alpha prologue demo (rougly a gig to download) that will take you about three hours to complete. Having played it myself I was very much reminded of games like Phantasy Star and Suikoden, which is high praise indeed.

Drop over to the official Kickstarter page and give it a look. You can nab the demo from Steam and try it out for yourself.
