Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II developer Obsidian Entertainment told Eurogamer that they would love to develop a new Star Wars game. Obsidian would love to begin by pitching a new Star Wars game idea to Disney. Disney, which owns LucasArts and has since changed it from a developing company into a licensing model, is open to receiving new Star Wars pitches. Obsidian’s CEO Feargus Urquhart had precisely this to say on the matter:
I had seen the news about LucasArts which was sad to see. LucasArts was a great supporter of Obsidian when we were first starting out and many of their games are ones I, personally, count as favourites. As for Obsidian pitching a Star Wars game, or games for that matter, we would love to. Getting to work within the Star Wars world was a ton of fun and it would be great to get to do so again.
In February, Obsidian Entertainment pitched a Star Wars game to LucasArts, and LucasArts thoroughly liked it. However, this happened before Disney owned LucasArts, so we will see whether or not this Star Wars game pitch will see daylight. The game takes place between Star Wars Episode III and Episode IV. Urquhart also mentions that Obsidian’s Chris Avellone came up with a really cool story for the game, and that this game pitch is one of Obsidian Entertainment’s best pitches ever. So cross your fingers, as a new Star Wars game from Obsidian Entertainment would be undoubtedly good.
I was five years old when I played my very first videogame: 'Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World' (on the Super Nintendo.) Although, that was back in 1996, during the beginning of the Nintendo 64 timeline. Thus began my trend of always being one console behind. I owned a Nintendo 64 during the days of Xbox and PlayStation 2; and I owned a Game Boy Color during the prime of the Game Boy Advance. It was only until recently that I have started keeping up to date with the current console timeline. I bought an Xbox 360 during it's launch, and it is my gaming platform to this very day. Now hoping to someday own a PlayStation Vita, and a non-craptastic PC, I am also hoping to keep up with the gaming industry from this point forward. That is, until I become too old to care to keep up with technology. Or until I'm too old to remember my name, or something like that. You know, looking on the bright side of things.
