iam8bit shadow drops their new game “Simpler Times” during Day of the Devs 2024

With so many games aiming for nonstop action and suspense, it’s refreshing to have a game focus on bringing the chill vibes. During today’s Day of the Devs broadcast, Simpler Times from iam8bit and Stoneskip showed off their project with two crazy announcements. Not only is the game available now, but a 10% discount will be applied to those who purchase within the first two weeks. Links as well as the full announcement can be found below!

Simpler Times takes players on an emotional journey as they guide Taina through the process of packing her childhood treasures for college while reflecting on pivotal moments in her young life. Music is a gateway for those memories, and playing old records whisks her back in time to see how her room – and herself – have grown and changed over the years.

“Simpler Times is like listening to an album for the first time,” said Stoneskip game director Dragos Matkovski. “With each minute, there’s something new to discover. Just like finding that favorite song, I’m hoping players will find their favorite moment. We wanted to capture the bittersweet melody of life’s transitions in Simpler Times. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished, and we’re looking forward to hearing how it resonates with players.”

Musician George Pandrea’s subtle lo-fi score plays a key role throughout Simpler Times, and it’s only fitting that iam8bit is sharing it with the world through an upcoming vinyl soundtrack. You can listen to the album’s single, “Studies,” which was just released on streaming platforms. The Simpler Times soundtrack will be available digitally and on vinyl on June 20.
