We had some pretty high praise for the Homeworld Remastered Collection, but it was simply the apéritif before the main course. Today, Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Software have given us a look at the story of the upcoming Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.
Deserts of Kharak serves as a prequel to original Homeworld title, focusing on a dying desert planet where an anomaly has been Uncovered. Led by chief science officer Rachel S’jet (an ancestor of Karan S’jet, the protagonist of the original games), the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid heads into enemy territory to investigate what appears to be an ancient crashed starship.
Blackbird Interactive was founded by veterans of the Homeworld and Company of Heroes franchises, so the tactical expertise is high. They’re currently offering a free copy of the Homeworld Remastered Collection on Steam with pre-orders, or a 20% discount for those who already have the collection.
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak will be released on January 20th on PC.
