Restoration Games has announced two new Unmatched expansions, one focused on Dark Horse's Hellboy franchise and the other celebrating characters from American folklore. Unmatched: Stars and Stripes will add John Henry, Rosie the Riveter (in a mech suit), Wyatt Earp, and George Washington to the game along with two new maps featuring the Alamo and the White House. The new expansion will be released March 16th on Restoration Games' website, followed by a Barnes & Noble exclusive retail window before a full release on June 24th. Rosie the Riveter, John Henry, and George Washington were all winners of an Unmatched design contest held back in 2020.
The Stars and Stripes expansion will be followed up by Unmatched: Hellboy, a new Unmatched module that adds four new playable characters from the Hellboy franchise to the battling franchise. Liz Sherman, Abe Sapien, Baba Yaga, and Hellboy will all be added in this expansion along with two new maps. Unmatched: Hellboy will be released in retail in October.
The Unmatched franchise draws from folklore, history, and popular modern IPs like The Witcher and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a quick-paced skirmish game. Each character has a unique deck of cards containing a mix of abilities, attacks, and defensive maneuvers, with players attempting to outlast their opponents as they scamper around the playing field. Two cooperative Unmatched Adventure games have also been released, pitting a collective group of heroes against multiple enemies.
