Hello! Welcome back to Friday Tabletop Kickstarter Update! For info on what is going on here, check out this introduction. Hopefully over the past few weeks, everyone has been backing all of the great games being put up on Kickstarter. This week, all of these campaigns look amazing!
Remember that I am in no way endorsing these games, I have not played them, I have not talked to the publishers. Back at your own risk.

Evolution: Flight
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Hand manipulation, Adaptation, Variable powers
Last year North Star Games kickstarted Evolution to great success. If you missed it, I was able to review a prototype of the game and was very impressed. The game encapsulates the idea that species must adapt to thrive (and not be eaten). Further developing this game system, Evolution: Flight is being kickstarted as well as a second printing of the base game. Adding feathers and wings to the game, Flight introduces a whole new subset of traits that can be used by spices centering around flying animals. Be sure to grab this one before it flies away (sorry, I had to…).

Project: ELITE
Apparent Weight: Medium-Light
Genre: Minatures, Real time cooperative, Dice rolling
For a game that is purported to only be a half hour, there sure are is a lot of plastic being thrown into the Project: ELITE box. From the publisher that brought such greats as Among the Stars and Drumroll, Artipia Games is looking to fund Project: ELITE. This real-time cooperative game, pits the players against an endless horde of nasty aliens. Building upon the frantic die rolling used in Escape, players continuously roll dice to perform various actions associated with the mission they are on. The overall production looks awesome with Drawlab Entertainment handling the miniatures. Certainly worth looking over all of the media on the campaign page.

Cauldron
Apparent Weight: Medium-Light
Genre: Set collection, Variable powers, Modular board
I feel like this is the year of Alchemy, and I love it. Artem Safarov is joining the party with his game Cauldron. In this game players compete to brew the best potions, all the while trying to thwart their opponent’s plans. Game play centers around set collection and the variable powers of each of the different players. With great looking art, and with interesting looking game play, I am excited to see how this one turns out.

Warquest
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Miniatures, War game, Dice based combat
With a name like Warquest and the pile of dice that is included, this game fits right in to the Ameritrash genre. Mr. B games and designer Glenn Drover are looking to fund what looks like an intense war game between various factions of fantasy races. Players take on the mantle of Warlord and trample around the map recruiting forces for their ranks. Combat is based around custom dice, with interesting choices between rugged frontline fighters and skilled archers. Described as Risk on steroids by the designer, Warquest is sure to grab many people’s attention.

The Titans of Gaming
Apparent Weight: Light to Medium
Genre: Gateway games of all different types
Calliope Games is assembling a super star team to design their new line of games they are appropriately calling The Titans of Gaming. If you have heard of an American game designer, they are most likely on the list of designers for this ambitious project. I am not going to even try to pick out the most noteworthy to mention here, because I would have to list all 15 of them here! The plans is that over the course of the next few years, each designer will put together a different style of gateway game. From party games to worker placement, The Titans are going to cover as many different styles, all aiming to be accessible to all players and even new ones. The only problem I see is picking which games you want; which, I guess, means you should just get them all!

From Trading in the Mediterranean to FPS, I love games. While I grew up in a house without consoles, PC gaming and board gaming were a large part of my formative years, and continue to influence my life. In this golden age of board gaming, I have jumped in headfirst in to anything table top. As a ludilogical student, I love thinking about how games work, their mechanics, their elegance and most importantly, enjoying how fun they are.
Favorite Board Game (at the moment): Twilight Struggle
Favorite PC Game (base solely on play time): Tie between WoW and DII
