GonggamOre Contents (CEO Yoon Min-hyung) announced its participation in the “2024 PlayX4 B2B” at KINTEX in Ilsan from May 23rd to May 26th.
The company, leading the game development industry in the Gyeongsangnam-do region, successfully entered the domestic game market in 2023. They achieved the top rank in the Google Play Store’s popular paid casual game category and the top rank in the App Store’s popular paid strategy game category by officially launching the real-time strategy merge defense game “Defendun” in February 2024. GonggamOre Contents has been selected as a Korean game developer for the Google Indie Games Accelerator (IGA) program, aiming to expand into the global market.
Operating the MYME Global Center, they provide all services necessary for game development, from development to publishing and game education, based on their diverse game development experience and know-how. They also contribute to developing the game development industry by discovering talents in the Gyeongsangnam-do region through game jams. Ultimately, they aim to grow into a creative platform that provides all the services necessary for game development.
At this exhibition, they plan to highlight the “MYME Global Center,” which offers services to discover indie game developers in the region, collaborate with developers to improve and optimize games and release them in the global market through marketing. Like mining raw stones and turning them into gems, the goal is to discover and turn potential games into successful ones.
In particular, the MYME Global Center provides a systematic process consisting of five stages, from game consulting to marketing after launch. It includes analyzing games’ marketability, suggesting improvement directions in the consulting stage, improving graphics, sound, UI, etc., optimizing them in the game development stage, and promoting the game and attracting users in the marketing stage after the game’s release.
GonggamOre Contents is currently working on translation and localization into English, Japanese, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, and Arabic for overseas game market releases in 2024. They are considering Saudi Arabia and Europe (France, Spain, Germany) as target countries for expansion.
Saudi Arabia is the largest game market in the Middle East, experiencing rapid growth due to government policies promoting the game industry, and is expected to form a market worth approximately 2.9 trillion won by 2023. Although the PC game market has traditionally been strong in Europe, the mobile game market has been growing rapidly in recent years, and it is expected to form a market worth approximately 100 trillion won by 2023. In particular, France, Spain, and the UK are known to have a mobile game market growing at 10-15% annually.
GonggamOre Contents plans to participate in global game shows such as Gamescom 2024, ChinaJoy, Tokyo Game Show, and Thailand Game Show to gather feedback from overseas users before entering the overseas market and establishing a network. This will lay the groundwork for entering markets in Europe and the Arab region. They stated, “We expect to increase awareness of our company’s game products and strengthen our competitiveness in the global market through this.”
They further expressed, “We will establish and execute marketing strategies tailored to the characteristics and cultures of each region to enhance communication and rapport with local customers and lay the groundwork for successful entry into overseas markets. We will continue to make efforts to achieve growth and development in the global market.”
The ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B,’ hosted by Gyeonggi Content Agency and KINTEX, is themed ‘More Than Just the Joy of Gaming’ and features exhibitions and experiences of new games from Korean and international game companies.
