What a time to be alive. Not only are we getting some of the most realistic simulation engines for thigs like boxing and shooting, we're also now seeing competition spaces emerge around those games. In the case of Golden Gloves VR, there is an upcoming competition to determine who will be the eGoldenGloves National Champion, and it's right around the corner. What's even more amazing to me is that the virtual competition is going to run parallel to the long-running National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. In both events, the winner will earn themselves a gorgeous National Championship belt, and have the chance to earn medals, cash prizes, and much more. The owner of Engine Room VR (and a certified USA Boxing coach, judge, and referee) had this to say:

“Since we began developing Golden Gloves VR, our top priority has been building a platform that makes boxing more accessible and inspires a new generation of hybrid athletes. Virtual reality opens up new and inclusive ways to play, train, and compete. With the launch of eGoldenGloves, we can provide a fun, competitive pathway that can lead to official national-level competition.”

We're still working on our review for Golden Gloves VR, so let's also get a peek behind the curtain on that upcoming title:

Whether you're an aspiring fighter, a VR gamer, or an esports competitor, Golden Gloves VR is your chance to prove your skills in the most competitive and immersive boxing experience available. With precision boxing physics, anti-cheat mechanics, and anti-flail systems that prevent spamming or slapping, Golden Gloves VR ensures that only skill and strategy win the fight. It offers not just competition but a full-body workout, where players can compete, get in shape, and break a sweat—all at the same time.

The game offers single-player and multiplayer modes and the opportunity to participate in scored competitive tournaments. Hand controllers increase the accuracy of punches and hosted training classes can help guide beginners as they learn. Additionally, players can customize their characters and gym branding to set up their ideal training environment.

● Authentic boxing mechanics with real-world punch mechanics and advanced bag physics make the game a true-to-life boxing simulation

● Anti-spam & anti-flail technology ensure no slapping or spamming, only skill-based gameplay with anti-cheat protocols to ensure fair competition

● It’s backed by the fight community and the game has been demoed at major boxing and gaming events, including Netflix’s Paul vs. Tyson fight

I'm gonna just ignore the last part of that final bullet because there's no way Tyson wasn't paid to dive on Paul for that last fight – the man clearly had car payments to make. You could see him repeatedly dip and then not fire his signature uppercut that has put so many to sleep. The good news, I suppose, is that I can rectify that sham of a fight and put Paul to sleep immediately – precisely what everyone wanted to see.

If you want to see this competition for yourself, it's right around the corner, and the team has made it incredibly easy:

Competitors will battle for the title via Golden Gloves VR, the most authentic VR boxing experience on the Meta Horizon Store. All aspiring champions can come to Tulsa and compete for the national title in person on Friday, May 16 at 5pm CT. Tournament details and Sign-Up can be found on goldenglovesvr.com/compete.
