GAMA opens nominations for the Power Retail Awards

If you’ve ever wanted your favorite local game store to earn recognition for their hard work, you have an opportunity through the GAMA Power Retail Awards. These awards recognize the best the stores that help the tabletop community be the best it can. Take a look at the details below to see how you could help out your favorite store:

Nominations are now open for the Power Retail Awards, a program designed to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements in the tabletop gaming retail sector. Nominations are now open for brick-and-mortar games stores and cafes around the world.

The Power Retail Awards honor establishments that exemplify excellence in customer service, innovation, community engagement, and store design. By showcasing exceptional contributions of local game stores, we aim to highlight their pivotal role in fostering vibrant gaming communities and driving the growth of the tabletop gaming industry.

Award Categories

The Power Retail Awards include the following categories:

1. Retailer of the Year
   • Recognizing stores that excel in advocacy, media engagement, record-breaking achievements, and overall impact on the industry.
2. Innovation in Games Retail
   • Honoring creative advancements that enhance the in-store experience and redefine traditional retail practices.
3. Outstanding Contribution to the Games Industry (Retail)
   • Celebrating businesses, owners, staff, and customers who use their passion and expertise to elevate the industry and educate the public about tabletop gaming.
4. Outstanding Store Design
   • Acknowledging physical store spaces that inspire and represent the hobby at its finest through aspirational and innovative design.

Awards and Recognition

Winners of the Power Retail Awards will receive:

• A commemorative plaque
• One year of GAMA membership, offering access to resources and networking opportunities
• Promotion across GAMA’s digital platforms
• Recognition during the Origins Award Ceremony
• $1,000 for the Best Overall Retailer
• $500 for winners in each of three additional categories

Nomination Process

Nominations are open to customers, publishers, business partners, suppliers, and retailers themselves. Submissions are accepted through the nomination form available at bit.ly/pra2025

Key Dates:

Nominations close: January 12, 2025

Eligibility Criteria:

• Nominees must be brick-and-mortar retailers in regular operation for at least one full year.
• Previous winners are not eligible to win in categories they have already received but may qualify for other categories.
