To celebrate the franchise's 40th anniversary, Square Enix revealed three Dragon Quest projects during a livestream. The main focus was on Dragon Quest XII, which has completely restarted development under a new structure. With this, the game's subtitle and logo have changed. Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate is now Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams. The game sees characters exploring both the real world and the dream world to discover the secrets behind both.
Additionally, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World was teased, showing dual protagonists Bianca and Nera; the love interests from Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. The game will also feature the third love interest added to the DS remake, Debora, though not much else was revealed. The game will come to Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Finally, get ready to play Dragon Quest XI again as the game is coming to Switch 2 on September 24th. Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition has all the bells and whistles of previous releases, and also allows players to choose between two modes, which prioritize graphics or performance. Pre-orders are now open.
