This version of the game lacks the story mode but features online and offline multiplayer game modes and a new rotation of characters each week.

The Free Edition is the first time Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has been released on Steam. If a player only wants a specific character, they can be purchased separately for $5.99 each. Players can access all 28 characters permanently as well as story mode by purchasing the Standard Edition for $29.99. In addition is the Deluxe Edition for $44.99, which includes the season pass containing six more characters, two new colors for each character, and two new weapons for each character.
