Cooler Master Launches X Silent Edge Platinum 850 Fanless PSU

There’s a reason why power supplies haven’t changed all that much in the last few decades.  Sure, they’ve gotten bigger and more powerful, and we’ve got cleaner rails than ever before, but the cooling has remained the same — vents and ever-larger fans.  This has a couple of effects on your system.  The most obvious is that it’s another item with moving parts that can fail.  Since you should never EVER open your power supply due to the very dangerous components inside, that means a simple fan failure sends the whole thing to the recycle bin.  That fan is also a collection point for dust and debris which can swirl around in your case if not properly maintained.  If you are trying to build a silent system, this is another component that can make noise.  More often than not, the older ones tend to pick up a squeak or coil whine, again leading to replacement.  But what if none of that had to be that way?  Cooler Master is looking to change the way we look at power supplies, but it turns out that it’s not nearly as easy as you’d think.

X Silent Series | Precise Silent Power

At Computex 2024, the Cooler Master team showcased their revolutionary new PSU — the X Silent Edge Platinum 850.  This is the ONLY 850W fanless power supply on the market, and starting today, you can pre-order it as an early adopter.  Why is it so challenging to make a fanless PSU?   Well, first you have to solve for the heat generated with power, and that’s a great deal of heat. You can take the fan out, but that means adding heat fins to every single component.  If you do that, however, you’ve also introduced a number of methods that can introduce interference into the PSU — now you have a new problem.  That means that the Taiwanese manufacturer had to instead redesign (or design from scratch!) every single component inside the device with this sole purpose in mind  What a huge step forward, and a quantum leap in PSU engineering.  Let’s hear from Jimmy Sha, Cooler Master CEO.

We recognize that power-hungry applications are becoming the norm for our users.  The X Silent Edge Platinum 850 is our answer to those who require robust power for intensive tasks but don’t want to compromise on a quiet work or play environment. This product represents our commitment to pushing the boundaries in providing quiet high-performance solutions.

Beyond providing 850W of clean fanless power with 80 Plus Platinum Efficiency with reliable parts and equipment, the device can also be monitored with the MasterCTRL software to see real-time data on temps, load, and performance.

If you move quickly, you can snap it up for $399 on this early bird special, and if you do, you’ll also pick up a free 27″ FHD 240Hz curved gaming monitor — the GM27-CFX to be specific, and an ATX 24 Pin 90° Adapter with Capacitors and an M.2 SSD thermal pad..  A $250 bonus, some great freebies, and the angled adapter on top of the discount?  Yep, you’ll want to act fast on this one!

You can grab your own bundle, with the promise that everything will be delivered by the end of June.
