Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the latest entry in the popular Scribblenauts series, Scribblenauts Showdown, a multiplayer minigame-focused entry in the wordplay series.
In Scribblenauts Showdown, up to four players face off in over 25 minigames where they test their wit and creativity against each other.
In the game’s Showdown mode, up to four players face off and imagine their way to victory through card-based strategy and creative skill. “Wordy” mini-games require unleashing the best object or character from the vast Scribblenauts dictionary of over thirty-five thousand words to outsmart an opponent. Action-oriented “Speedy” mini-games reward the player who completes a given challenge first. A board game style map displays players’ progress. With multiple ways to make up ground, every player has a chance to win, which keeps the excitement going until the end!
With Versus mode, two players will go head-to-head in minigames that vary every time you play. These mini-games can also be played for solo players, but it appears that multiplayer is the main focus this time around.
And finally, it wouldn’t be a Scribblenauts game without a sandbox mode. Up to two players can solve objectives across eight different levels, or just summon objects in the same area to see what sort of zany mishaps happen.
Scribblenauts Showdown will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on March 6th, 2018. Unlike previous entries in the series, a PC version of the game has not been announced.
