$1000 Up For Grabs in Dungeon Defenders Map Contest

Dungeon Defenders is one of those titles that makes wannabe game developers like me very happy, because their development kit is available for free with the game. This makes it possible to fiddle around with maps, create your own mods, and right now it can even net you $1000. That’s right, Dungeon Defenders is offering cash and prizes to players who can create the best map based on a fan vote and developer judging. The top map will be included in the game with credit given to the creator, and the top four maps will be rewarded with cash and prizes. Read on for more.

So, what can fearless defenders hope to win?
1st place: Map inclusion into Dungeon Defenders Ranked & Open mode, $1,000 prize and a DunDef prize pack (TBD)
2nd place: $500 and a DunDef prize pack (TBD)
3rd place: $250 and a DunDef prize pack (TBD)
4th place: DunDef prize pack (TBD)

Dungeon Defenders is a online multiplayer tower defense game, so all maps will have to keep those core tenets in mind.  Fan and judge voting will be weighted on a 60/40 split, with fan votes having the larger influence. Those who are familiar with game modding will be happy to hear that they are allowed to include their own custom art and materials, while those who aren’t will be glad to know that minor mistakes won’t lead to disqualification. The contest deadline is June 21, so anyone who hopes to take home the grand prize has plenty of time to create the perfect Dungeon Defenders map. Breanna has been gaming since infancy, if gnawing on an unattended controller counts as playing a game. One of the younger members of the Gaming Trend family, she dabbled in PC games as a kid but wasn't fully consumed by the hobby until the sixth generation of consoles. Now an avid PC and console gamer, she looks forward to the day when she can scape together enough cash to join the next gen club.

In the last week of middle school, a math teacher taught her how to program a calculator; she was pretty much hooked then and there. Currently working towards a degree in Computer Science and Applied Math, Breanna hope to someday make games instead of just writing about them. Other hobbies include playing guitar, binge-watching Netflix, and cooking delicious food.
