The Witcher, Iron Man, Isekai Metaller, and more!

The return of some ICONIC characters, metal music & manga, and so much more!

The Witcher, Iron Man, Isekai Metaller, and more!

We're back to recap a great week of Comics & Manga we read here at GamingTrend.com last week! We have three comics to showcase this week: one from Dark Horse Comics, one from Marvel Comics, and one from Titan Manga.

We also have Tim Jenkins' impressions of the most recent issue of Spider-Man '94! At the end, keep an eye out for a preview of what we're looking at this week!

The Witcher: Blood Stone – Issue #1

The return of Geralt comes with a gnarly look at a small village with a very large legend full of secrets to reveal. With no clear signs of attack but with people going missing in the mines, the village hires Geralt to see what the cause might be once and for all.

Teaming up with a young orphan this time, Geralt dives deep into the dwarven mines to prove once and for all, what is hunting in the mines.

The Witcher: Blood Stone continues the trend from Dark Horse Comics of crafting an art style that helps combine the books with the games leading to a very "Witcher" vibe even in a different medium. If you're a fan of either the books or the games, The Witcher: Blood Stone is set to be a fun four-issue adventure.

The Witcher: Blood Stone #1 :: Profile :: Dark Horse Comics
Ancient dwarven mines have attracted treasure hunters, and legend has it a horned beast is killing them. With no signs of an attack, Geralt surveys the lay of the land, but the mountains are deadly, and the mines even deadlier. And in the labyrinth of the dwarven caves, what remains is best left untouched.• Written by Daniel Freedman (Birdking, Kali, Raiders) with art by Pius Bak (Slightly Exaggerated, Godfather of Hell)!• Created in close collaboration with CD Projekt Red!• Four-issue series.

Iron Man (2026) – Issue #1

After everything Tony Stark has been through, you'd think he would maybe, at some point, want a break. That's simply not Tony though, as Iron Man makes his return with AIM aim-ing to capture those who could provide a Tony Stark of their own.

This was an ACTION-PACKED first issue with a lot of reveals of where Tony's tech is now with some great moments near the end that will have most Marvel fans asking, "wait, what?" Even if you've not read Iron Man in the past, this is a decently good reset while still moving the overall story forward!

Isekai Metaller – Vol. 2

This manga is a wonderful combination of metal music history and fantasy dungeons and dragons leveling. Each of our heroes are growing alongside Alexi, even if he really still doesn't know what's going on fully. Meeting people in every area he goes, Alexi and the team are chugging forward to learn more about Metallers and why Alexi is even here!

A great part of this story are the references to the different metal artists who are iconic in the genre (I won't spoil them for those who want to find them on your own). These moments are campy and fun but always keep the story moving along on his adventure.

This is such a sweet story of found family and always striving to be the best at your passions. Alexi is a HIGH level compared to everyone else, but because he simply LOVES metal music, everything that happens is more and more excitement. That makes his new friends learn and grow as they go. It'll be fun to see where the story goes next!

Spider-Man '94 – Issue #5 impressions

Spidey's nineties nostalgia journey comes to a close as DeMatteis brings us the fifth and (for now) final chapter of his continuation of the classic cartoon. From high stakes threats to a surprising conclusion, Spider-Man's final battle with Morlun and Kaine ends in a satisfying (if a bit rushed) fashion, delivering a worthy ending for a series that more than deserved one.

While not perfect, it's got heart, it's got action, and it remains true to the show that started it all. What more can you ask for?
