We're back to recap a great week of comics we read here at GamingTrend.com! This week we feature The High Republic Adventures: Phase Three from Dark Horse Comics and then Dead Space from Titan Comics! Let's jump to lightspeed and discuss what these comics have to offer!

The High Republic Adventures: Phase 3 – Issue #1

Phase One of The High Republic was absolutely fabulous from a world building perspective. It provided everything we needed to establish a new era inside of the Star Wars universe we had never seen before. From the robes to the Lightsaber hilts to the villains and the politics, The High Republic was a breath of fresh air. Phase Two started BEFORE the events of Phase One and gave us some context to specific character. Meanwhile, Phase Three returns us to the characters and time period we were introduced to in Phase One, but after the fall of Starlight Beacon during the attack by the Nihil (evil metal-head space Vikings). With the High Republic Adventures, Daniel Jose Older and his team do a great job with the emotions coming from the younger members of the Jedi Order and their friends at this time. The first issue sets up the idea that members of the order are either considered dead or missing and as time goes by, those who are labeled missing, move to those considered dead. We will soon have a full written review for The High Republic Adventures: Phase 3, so stay tuned to GamingTrend.com!

Dead Space – Vol. 1

If you liked the lore of the Dead Space world, you will VERY much enjoy this comic book. This is the first time since 2013 that this series has been released and it looks amazing. One of the greatest aspects of this series is the usage of color, especially red/orange vs blue/green. When things are "normal" for the crew, things are this blue/green tint like the beginning of the first Dead Space game before you know things are REALLY bad. Then, as the beacon continues to become a driving force for the crew, things continue to turn into the iconic red/orange color of the first two Dead Space games! This series is full of religious conflict, political intrigue, and lots and lots of scary moments!
