There aren’t many new releases to be excited about in the second week of April, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t games to play. Some gamers may enjoy piecing together an epic journey through Middle Earth in LEGO The Hobbit, while others are taking a break from Titanfall to aimlessly flail around in Kinect Sports Rivals, but for most us this weekend will be spent hopelessly hacking away at our ever-growing backlog of games. Here is what Gaming Trend is playing this weekend.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls has become more of an obligatory task than a game at this point. All of my friends play it to an unhealthy level (my roommate’s feet went numb for a few hours last week because he played for 24 hours straight). I’ll play just to appease them, but that doesn’t mean I’ll like it. I recently picked up Fable Anniversary, so I’ll be playing through that as well. Then on Saturday some friends are coming over for a night of beer, food and tabletop games.

It’s good to be a king, and with Mercenary Kings it’s even better. PlayStation Plus has made it the free game this month, and I’ve been diving in pretty much every day after work. This weekend I’ll be submerging myself even deeper and try and reach the five star general ranking.

Having just wrapped up Strike Suit Zero, I should really finish up Act V which is found in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. I’ve just scratched the surface of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, and haven’t even completed a proper mission in Thief yet. These are not priority over reviews, mind you, so we’re always on the lookout.
Last week my son and I picked up Fryno for Skylanders Swap Force. He might be hitting the portal of power. Oh, I suppose I might log a few hours in Titanfall, just to listen to the background noise they call a plotline.

Now that my “writers room” is nearly complete in our apartment, I have a wall lined with classic consoles ( Currently the original Xbox, the Wii, PS2, PS One, Gamecube, and even a Saturn!) waiting to get their transistors firing again. Currently I have my eye on rekindling the torches of Bloodrayne, Project Gotham Racing (You know, the good one that still had the international radio) and lots of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.
As far as my “newer” gaming endeavors are concerned, my Ouya finally tasted life after nearly a year in cardboard- coffined slumber. Right now I am mostly just checking out what all the un-buzz is actually about. Maybe this will result in a new article regarding this generations littlest system-that-could, but that’s still a subject for debate between my game-writing muse and my game-playing ID.

On December 5, 1986, Josh was born into this world pink-faced and squalling. His only thoughts were, "WHAT IS GOING ON? WHO ARE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE? AND WHY THE HELL AM I NAKED?" 19 years later he bought an Xbox 360 and now plays and writes about video games. Life is funny that way.
