Tabletop Season – Friday Tabletop Kickstarter Update

Hello! Welcome to Friday Tabletop Kickstarter Update! For info on what is going on here, check out this introduction. This is apparently Kickstarter season. When I looked at possible games to highlight, my list was 12 games long… and those were only ones ending in the next few days. Hopefully these five are the best of the best!

Remember that I am in no way endorsing these games, I have not played them, I have not talked to the publishers. Back at your own risk.

Zombicide: Black Plague
Apparent Weight: Medium – Heavy
Genre: Zombies, Fantasy, Cooperative, Action selection

Because five boxes in the base system was getting to be a little much, CoolMiniOrNot and Guillotine Games have refactored the Zombicide game system into a fantasy setting with their latest game Zombicide: Black Plague. Instead of fighting in a modern setting, Black Plague pits fantasy archetypes against hordes of undead villagers and necromancers. Like any good CoolMiniOrNot campaign, there is enough stretch goal additions to the campaign that you are almost getting two for one.

The Gallerist
Apparent Weight: Medium-Heavy
Genre: Worker placement, Art collecting, Gallery management

Whoa, I know Eagle-Gryphon Games has a knack for Art themed games, but Gallerist fully embraces the ‘Age of Art’ vibe. In The Gallerist, players take on the role of an art aficionado, buying art, displaying works and selling pieces. With what looks like lots of moving pieces and fantastic graphic design, The Gallerist is sure to engage and pull in even the most art illiterate.

GRIM
Apparent Weight: Light
Genre: Push your luck, Dice, Take-that

Shifting gears to a lighter fare, Grim presents a clean looking social experience with a healthy dose of dice rolling. The game revolves around getting rid of your grim tokens, this is done primarily by pawning them off onto your fellow opponents or to Grim himself (herself?). For fans of push your luck styles games, Grim looks like a good one to check out… if you dare!

Eminent Domain: Battlecruisers and Exotica
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Deck building, Drafting, Space, Card game

Combining an expansion and stand alone game into one campaign, Tasty Minstrel is looking to fund both Exotica, an expansion for Eminent Domain, and Battlecruisers. Exotica is the second expansion to the popular Eminent Domain game. This expansion includes new planet types, new abilities and new interactions between cards. In Battlecruisers both players get the same set of cards and the same mission, however the competition is in how they approach the mission. For fans and new players, this campaign’s offerings are sure to cater to every backer.

Pillars of Eternity: Lords of the Eastern Reach
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Strategy card game, Combat, Resource management

Crossing over from the digital to the analog, Lords of the Eastern Reach brings the popular Pillars of Eternity video game to the tabletop. In this tactical card game, players take on the role of one of the regions in the Eastern Reach hoping to wrest control from the wild lands. Players can attack each other, delve into dungeons and hire new troops. If you are interested, check out the campaign for both the awesome looking art, a pile of stretch goals and a gameplay overview.

If you have KS topics that interest you, let me know @Scooter_TTTD

From Trading in the Mediterranean to FPS, I love games. While I grew up in a house without consoles, PC gaming and board gaming were a large part of my formative years, and continue to influence my life. In this golden age of board gaming, I have jumped in headfirst in to anything table top. As a ludilogical student, I love thinking about how games work, their mechanics, their elegance and most importantly, enjoying how fun they are.

Favorite Board Game (at the moment): Twilight Struggle
Favorite PC Game (base solely on play time): Tie between WoW and DII
