Stumble Guys has been a HIT online. It’s hard to scroll through any social media without seeing someone doing something outrageous in a match. Well, the wait is finally over for Xbox fans as Stumble Guys does anything but stumble their way onto the platform.
I was honored to represent GamingTrend during a preview event for Stumble Guys with Jamie Berger, SVP of Marketing, and Jake Bales, SVP of Product + Game Director, talking to us about the game while playing in a private room with those of us on the call. It was very exciting for me to hear this team talk so positively about not just the game, but the collaborations as well.
Our friends at Scopely are ON IT with the plans. They already have more than 40 maps on the Xbox version with many more on the way. Some of their biggest collaborations with customizations are with everything from the NFL to their biggest collaboration to date; Mr. Beast. Alongside the customizations, the Mr. Beast collaboration included maps with their logos and references to the different videos as well as ads and other marketing with Mr. Beast as well.
For me, the maps we played had a little bit of everything. Some were much easier in order to get you used to the mechanics, while others were so hard that some of the winners from other matches didn’t even qualify to move to the next round. It’s a great mix of difficulty without feeling unfair. We played a few maps where the goal was to get to the end – straight forward enough. Then some where the goal was just to survive until the end – got it. Then we played a map designed in collaboration with Nerf (the foam blaster company) that was fully a FPS map with the goal being to survive until x-amount of people were defeated. It’s very exciting seeing some out of the box thinking and not pigeon-holing themselves in one style of game mode.
They’ll be introducing a workshop mode as well as split screen in the next year and it sounds very exciting to have the opportunity for the community to take these assets and make their own maps and challenges.
The Stumble Pass (their battle pass) was something I asked about. While you won’t be able to gain enough gems to outright buy the next pass, I was assured that they went above and beyond to make sure that getting the pass is an excellent deal full of exclusive skins, emotes, and other customizations as well as gems and Stumble Tokens. Looking through the pass yourself, you’ll be able to see if it’s worth it to you to grab it.
A big shout out and thank you to everyone who helped put the preview celebration event together. It was a fun time learning about the game, competing with others involved, and … stumbling … through the maps while I learned.
Stumble Guys is available now on Xbox.
