Games for the Masses–Weekend Deals 09//13//2013

2-geometry-wars-screenie2-4351139rrltk_1713Welcome back to Games for the Masses, where we help you spend less to play more!  Forgive the lack of communication from GftM HQ–your Glorious Leader has been busy moving and reviewing a slew of too-long games.  But this week GftM comes back in a big way with a fantastic new Humble Bundle!  The  Humble Indie Bundle 9 will net you Trine 2, Mark of the Ninja, Eets Munchies Beta, FTL, and Fez!  That’s probably the best Indie Bundle since the HIB V.   Your Glorious Leader approves.

While we’re sticking it to the bourgeoisie, think about picking up the latest Humble Weekly Sale. Focusing on “Retro Shooters,”  $6.00 will net you two Serious Sam entries, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem 3D, Hard Reset, and System Shock 2.  If nothing else, the last two games in that list should have you salivating.  Other big sales this week?

  • Deus Ex: GOTY Edition ($4)–It’s Dues Ex.  You need to play it.
  • Tomb Raider 2012 ($13)–A stunningly pretty game, with some really incredible locations and an interesting story focusing on Lara’s evolution from terrified girl to merciless angel of vengeance.
  • Rogue Legacy ($9)–A Rougue-like-like with more emphasis on progress than most standard Rogue-likes.
  • Super Meat Boy ($6)–A brutally difficult platformer that will frustrate you to tears–before you jump for joy.
  • Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved ($3)–Intense twin-stick shooter.  The simple gameplay and graphics blend to create some truly incredibly explosions of vibrant color.  Play this drunk with friends, and you’re in for a good time.
  • Indie Royale Back to School Bundle 2 ($6.00)–Can’t say much about it, since I’ve not played any of the games–but one of them does have a hamster giving a peace sign for the cover.  So there’s that.

Think we missed a huge deal?  Let us know in the comments!  Until next time, Game on, comrades!
