A closer look at The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening dioramas

[unitegallery LoZSDCC]

It was only a few weeks ago that we were able to spend ten quality minutes with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening demo at E3. We were utterly charmed by this whimsical, toy-like remake, and we even named it the Best Adventure Game of E3. We were excited to get our hands on it again at San Diego Comic-Con, but it turned out that the SDCC demo came with both good news and bad. The good news was that Link’s Awakening was one of a handful of playable titles at the Nintendo Lounge, but it was, unfortunately, the same 10 minute long demo we already played through during E3.

The really good news was that the Nintendo brought their beautifully crafted and stunningly detailed dioramas with them to San Diego, so we got up close and personal with Toy Link and his pals. We were utterly blown away by how much love the designers showed in their incredibly faithful recreation of the 1993 GameBoy title, and the same amount of care clearly went into these real-world recreation of iconic scenes from Koholint Island.

Once you’re done marveling at these gorgeous minis, be sure to check out our video of hansd-on gameplay at E3 to see just how they match up to the game itself. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on September 20th, 2019.
