GamingTrend is one of the longest-running gaming-focused sites on the Internet. With over 20 years of experience, we’ve reviewed a few things. We are gamers, above all else, but we’re also members of this community. We cover a wide variety of topics, including board gaming, table-top, video games, entertainment, movies, culture, and so much more. As such, we see a very wide range of visitors to GamingTrend.com and work diligently to maintain a certain level of civility and decorum to ensure every one feels welcome to express themselves here. This place is a lot of fun, and we’d love to keep it that way – here are a few guidelines to keep in mind.
Whether it’s in our comment section, Discord, email, or other channels of communication, we try to keep the human in mind. As such, we reserve the right to police the environment a bit, and that may mean we either censor or in extreme cases, remove a comment or interaction. Unfortunately, due to the way these systems work, it effectively plays “Connect 4” with everything below it, so that may include neutral or positive interactions. It’s not our intention, but an unintended side effect. It’s not personal. That said, our moderators and team reserve the right to remove anything and everything from any section of the site at any time, and without warning. It’s our home, and we’ll take the appropriate steps to ensure it stays a warm and welcoming place for everyone.
We do have a few hot-button issues that are almost certain to trigger a more severe and immediate reaction. These aren’t a matter of discussion or recourse – you pull these things, you’re gone. It’s as simple as that.
- DEI - First off, spell it out. Which part of Diversity, Equity, or Inclusion do you disagree with? If you find that you can articulate that you disagree with any one of those three, then find someplace else to be.
- Racism - You know who you are. Go back to where you came from – you aren’t welcome here.
- Trans rights are human rights. Period. End of discussion. If you want to disagree or debate that, you can take that somewhere else.
- Spam - Nope. There’s way too much of that in the world. There are opportunities for GamingTrend.com to work with folks outside of our team, but if you’re here to sell us links, casino, Web3, bitcoin, or similar junk, we’re taking a hard pass. It’s dishonest, you know it, we know it, go away.
- Personal attacks - The only reason you feel comfortable attacking somebody else is because you’re hiding behind a keyboard. Grow up. This is a zero-tolerance item.
We aren’t trying to be the fun police. We just want to make sure that this place stays fun for everyone. It’s as simple as that. As Wil Wheaton said – “Don’t be a dick”. It’s wisdom that continues to be excessively relevant to this day.
Storage of User Data:
You registered here! Thanks for joining our community. We appreciate you joining us, and we’re happy to have you here. We promise to be good stewards of your data, however limited it may be. At any time you can adjust your signups for our weekly roundup, specific channel roundups, comments, or even unsubscribe from all correspondence. Similarly, you can suspend your account, or even delete it. When you take those actions, the corresponding data will be automatically purged from Ghost’s systems – no data is stored locally with GamingTrend.com. This PII data is collected with the singular purpose of connecting subsystems like your username and comment system, and is not sold or used in any way beyond what it takes to operate the site and to tailor recommendations or improvements to your content recommendations. We hate it when others do it to us, we won’t do it to you.
Storage of payment data:
GamingTrend.com does not, in any way, store any payment data. Our payment processing is handled by third party integrations like Stripe, Patreon, YouTube, etc. As such, any collection, retention, or purging of your PCI / PII data is governed by that third party.
