We know negativity spreads faster than Battlefield REDSEC's enclosing firestorm and generates more clicks. "If it bleeds, it leads," the saying goes, and Battlefield REDSEC is bleeding. Let me insert some positivity between the negative headlines covering the undeniably ho-hum BR that doesn't lean into "Only in Battlefield," unless you count adding tanks. Ignore the BR. Play REDSEC's superior mode, Gauntlet.

In Gauntlet, the goal is to survive by outperforming five other squads and advance to the next round. There are four missions, 10 minutes each, and two squads are eliminated each round. If your squad doesn't make the cut, your game is over. Each mission is a variant of a Battlefield mode. Circuit is inspired by Conquest. Take control of as many zones as possible to score points. The more zones you control, the easier it is to maximize points. Another mission is Vendetta; it is similar to VIP. Kill the other squads' VIP to earn big points, but protecting your VIP scores more points over time. Wreckage tasks squads with finding and planting bombs at M-Com stations, awarding one point to teams that successfully detonate stations. The last round was a high-stakes deathmatch called Contract. Kill as many opponents as you can for points, but if your squad is wiped, your game is over.

Gauntlet uses the same mechanics as the BR. I felt the same tension and thrill as I would in a BR match without needing to search for loot, worry about the map shrinking, and being eliminated from the game entirely, or waiting for a respawn. You play the whole game. Even better, you can use the loadouts you've worked hard to unlock from the base multiplayer game. If you like the BR but feel you're not good enough to survive, Gauntlet is a great entry point. It's considerably more interesting and fun.

You wanted originality. Here it is.

It's okay to dislike REDSEC BR and express it; EA and DICE need to hear that. But this feels like REDSEC's only option is the Battle Royale. It's not. Gauntlet is legit, and EA needs to know that, too.

Psychology says positive reinforcement is more effective with humans. Now is a good time to give positive feedback about Gauntlet. Don't just slam them for the mediocre Battle Royale; reward the developers for their originality.
