Jyn Erso, Bodhi Rook, Baze Malbus, and Chirrut Îmwe join Star Wars: Shatterpoint through the This is Rogue One Squad Pack. Their addition to the game rounds out the remaining members of Rogue One, the defiant Rebel team that infiltrated the data vault archives on Scarif, adding to Cassian Andor, K-2SO, and a pair of Rebel Pathfinders (Sefla and Rodma, who are not named but it's clearly them). If they are anything like their characters in the movie, they will prefer hit-and-run tactics and fast strikes, so let’s see how they look and play in Shatterpoint!

Unboxing

The whole squad comes on a single sprue and includes the four bases. Like all of the latest AMG expansions, there are four sets of cards, each for the four languages (English, French, German, and Spanish). I usually save my extras for the inevitable card update and use them as backers for my print-and-play cards.
Assembly
In general, Shatterpoint expansion assembly is pretty easy and the instructions are straightforward. For me, the QR code on the included sheet wasn't pulling up the right page, so I Googled it and found the right link:

There are some noticeable gaps in the shoulders, which is pretty normal for these pieces. You can probably get away without needing to gap fill them, but do make sure you dry-fit everything to avoid having even larger gaps. A simple plastic gap filler, like Tamiya or Sprue Goo, is an easy way to fill gaps. There are mold lines throughout the models, which are easy to remove.
The figures assemble pretty quickly, and I got them all assembled, the gaps filled, the mold lines removed, and everything ready for priming within 20 minutes.

As I do with my with all of my other Shatterpoint miniatures, I prime and paint the figures separately from the bases. I use double sided tape and affix them to extras bases. This allows me to quickly and freely paint the bases separately, assembling the model to the base once both are done.
Cards & Abilities
Jyn Erso

Jyn is definitely a leader to get in, do some work, and then get out. At 8 SP and 3 Force (because of the Kyber crystal, of course!), Jyn can dish out damage and move quickly to objectives. 'This is a Rebellion, Isn't it?' and 'I Rebel' both provide some extra movement, and 'This is a Rebellion, Isn't it?' and 'Reckless, Aggressive, and Undisciplined' can add extra dice to attacks. Regardless of the stance tree you choose, and there are a few options on either stance, adding 5 dice to a 7-dice attack means you'll very likely make it to the end of her combat tree. Defensively, she can move about and take some hits, but I wouldn't put her in the middle of combat unless you're sure you can pull off 'Reckless, Aggressive, and Undisciplined.'
Jyn is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, so I'm really excited to paint her up and get on the table leading some Rebels!
Bodhi Rook

Bodhi is all about objectives with his three abilities. 'Rogue One, Pulling Away' provides more movement for the squad, which is nice. However, 'I Just Need an Open Line' and 'Galen Said I could Get Right by Myself, If I was Brave Enough' are some sneaky abilities, and should force your opponent to pay more attention to him. He can gain Momentum for simply rolling dice at an objective, and he can boost allies that are contesting other objectives. So, your opponent may need to choose between going after Bodhi, freeing up your other units, or leave Bodhi alone and run the risk of him bolstering objectives for your team. He's got moderate survivability, and really isn't suited for heavy combat, but that's kind of the point of his character. I would not be so quick to discount him if he's on the table.
Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe

Two of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters, Baze and Chirrut, are also included, and they do not disappoint in Shatterpoint. At a hefty 5 PC, they do get two stances as a Supporting Unit. Depending on what tactics you're using, their abilities offer different bonuses based on the stance you chose, so you have some options with them on the battlefield. They can move and shoot, or get in close and put up a fight. The bonus for changing the stance is that, after it does so, the unit immediately gets a focus action. 'I Fear Nothing, For All Is As the Force Wills It' helps keep them around, and 'He's Praying For the Door to Open' pairs nicely with Bodhi's objective manipulation abilities. For a Supporting unit, they can deal some damage and really hold their own.
Star Wars: Shatterpoint This Is Rogue One Squad Pack
Excellent
These Rogue One characters were given some great abilities. Not only can they move and attack, but they've got some flexibility in manipulating and controlling objectives. Paired with any Rebel unit, this squad can force your opponent to make some difficult choices, and, if played smart, can wreck some serious havoc!
Pros
- Rogue One characters!
- Great sculpts!
- Tactical objective abilities, and a boon to Rebel rosters
- Self-contained expansion for a squad (no need to swap!)
Cons
- Noticeable, but fixable, gaps
