Previews

After a trip to Kojima Productions, several of the press are now releasing their thoughts on a preview they attended for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Not only is their praise effusive, but the new gameplay and screenshots we've seen from said event looks stunning. What may be more wild is the length of this preview: Four days at the studio with up to 25-30 hours in-game. Those are insane numbers. Check out some of the thoughts from press below!
From Andy Robinson of Video Games Chronicle (VGC):
How Hideo Kojima is evolving Death Stranding 2’s formula with a bold Australian frontier | VGC
VGC travelled to Kojima Productions to play 30 hours of Death Stranding 2 and speak with Hideo Kojima…

After around 30 hours with Death Stranding 2 – estimated to be around 40% of the game – I’m convinced this will be my favorite Hideo Kojima game certainly since Phantom Pain, and possibly even the PS2. While Kojima claims On the Beach to be the logical evolution of the first game’s design, it’s impossible not to see welcome corrections to player feedback everywhere, and those who didn’t click with the original will almost certainly appreciate the changes.
I Played 30 Hours of Death Stranding 2 And I Can’t Wait To Do It All Again
I can confidently say that it’s excellent.

I’ve been to countless pre-release events, and in the best-case scenario, it usually winds up with a preview along the lines of, “What I played during my hour-long demo was great, let’s hope the final product can match what they showed off!” But I played 30 hours of Death Stranding 2 before writing this preview. I can confidently say that it’s excellent, and I can’t wait to do it all again (and much more) when it releases next month.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach Preview - Building A Stronger Connection - Game Informer
I played over 25 hours of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Here how the sequel is shaping up.

Kojima focused on telling a weird story and creating a bizarre experience around it in Death Stranding, which was only somewhat enjoyable. However, the sequel seems more purposeful in delivering a well-crafted and consistently entertaining experience. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has the makings of a perfect sequel: one that iterates and improves upon its predecessor in every way.
For me personally, Death Stranding 1 was everything I had hoped Death Stranding 1 would be, and it's the same in Death Stranding 2. It's just that through some very targeted interventions and enhancements, Kojima has found a way to push through or sidestep any of that initial resistance that stopped people from connecting with Death Stranding 1. I don't think his vision for Death Stranding has changed one iota; I think the way he's invited people into that vision has evolved, such that there are now fewer barriers and more on ramps. All the roads lead to the same conclusion: Death Stranding 2 is unique, special, and I love it. After spending 30 hours with Death Stranding 2, I'm all but certain I'll love the sequel as much as I loved the original.
We Played 30 Hours of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach! - IGN
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach can be seen as an attempt to take the premises of the first game to the next level. And now that we’ve played its sequel for more than 30 hours at a special press event at Kojima Productions’ Tokyo office, we are starting to realize that it may have been only the beginning.

While it was explicitly stated that what I played was not the final version of the game, the playable portions demonstrated a density and completeness you would expect from a final product. Fundamental elements such as movement, dialogue, and presentation are highly integrated, and the intention to expand upon the experience that the first game delivered was evident throughout.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach releases exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26th. Stay tuned to GamingTrend for more Death Stranding 2: On The Beach news and info!
