Today, we announced that the Xbox full screen experience (FSE) is now available on Windows 11 handhelds. In addition to handhelds, we’re also expanding the Xbox full screen experience in preview to more Windows 11 form factors—such as desktops, laptops, and tablets—for Xbox and Windows Insiders.
Powered by Windows 11 and inspired by the streamlined console experience, the Xbox full screen experience is purpose-built for gaming. Full screen experience minimizes background activity and defers non-essential tasks, so more system resources are dedicated to gameplay.
Together, Windows and Xbox are creating experiences designed for when, where, and how, people play. Xbox full screen experience brings a unified experience across console, PC and handheld PC – helping players jump into their games on any device.
Here’s what players can expect from Xbox full screen experience (FSE) on handhelds:
- A distraction-free, console-style UI of the Xbox PC app optimized for Windows 11 handhelds like the MSI Claw models, and the ASUS ROG Ally and ROG Ally X, with additional OEMs to adopt the Xbox full screen experience in the coming months.
- Seamless access to Xbox, Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, and games from other storefronts.
- Easier to navigate with a gamepad and seamless task switching with a long-press of the Xbox controller button.
- Easy toggling with Win + F11, Game Bar Settings, or Task View.
Xbox full screen experience adds another way to enjoy games on your PC:
- As part of the Windows Insider Preview Build, players in the Xbox and Windows Insider Programs are getting an early preview of FSE on more Windows 11 form factors.
- FSE for Windows 11 PC form factors adds another way to enjoy games on your PC —delivering an immersive experience, console-like feel—while preserving the flexibility and choice PC players value.
- The Xbox full screen experience was tailored for PCs to make switching in and out of desktop as streamlined as possible.
- To be among the first to try these new features on your Windows 11 PC, join the Windows and Xbox Insiders Programs and opt into the PC Gaming preview through the Xbox Insiders Hub.
