Warhammer 40K will bring back Apocalypse ruleset in likely last big rules expansion for 10th Edition

Rules for the large-scale Apocalypse battles will be released as part of Eye of Terror

An Iron Warriors army faces off against the Adeptus Mechanicus in Warhammer 40K.

Warhammer 40K has officially announced its upcoming Eye of Terror expansion, revealing another slate of rulebooks as its 10th edition ruleset winds down. The Eye of Terror, like its 500 Worlds and Maelstrom predecessors, will feature three books, one of which contains new narrative rules, another containing detachments for various factions, and a third that brings large-scale warfare back to the game in the form of new Armageddon rules.

According to the reveal article posted on Warhammer Community this week, the new Armageddon rules will feature "modular guidelines and adjustments" that will make it easier to run large-scale battles. Compared to a usual game that features 2,000 point army, Armageddon rules are meant for use with 5,000+ sized armies, so some streamlines are needed to keep a single game from lasting days.

The Eye of Terror rulebook is likely the last set of rules Games Workshop will release for 10th edition. A new edition of Warhammer 40K is rumored for release later this month, with a likely reveal coming during Adepticon later this month.
