The Iron Warriors, one of the traitor legions of Chaos Space Marines, looks set to receive its own wave of miniatures from Games Workshop. At the end of today's Warhammer Preview event, Games Workshop teased the Iron Warriors as part of its next wave of releases. Likely, the Iron Warriors miniatures will be revealed at Adepticon, which will take place in March in Milwaukee, WI.
The Iron Warriors are a mechanically-minded legion of Space Marines that specialize in siege warfare. Led by the primarch Perturabo, the Iron Warriors were one of nine legions to betray the Imperium of Mankind during the Horus Heresy. The Iron Warriors were heavily involved in the Siege of Terra, where they faced off against their longtime rivals the Imperial Fists in a battle between fortification and siege specialists. The Iron Warriors, along with the forces of Chaos, were ultimately defeated in the Horus Heresy and fled, with the remnants of the legion continuing to harry the Imperium of Man to the present day of Warhammer 40K.
Technically, the Iron Warriors were represented by the generic Chaos Space Marines miniatures on the tabletop. Rumors have indicated that the Iron Warriors will receive upgrade kits that will swap out various Chaos Space Marine parts with Iron Warriors-specific heraldry and weapons. Based on the teaser, the Iron Warriors will likely have bionic limbs incorporated into their kits, as the legion historically replaced mutated limbs with iron prosthetics.
This would be the fifth legion of Chaos Space Marines to receive specialized units on the tabletop. The World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children, and Death Guard all have their own specialized ranges, each of which represents one of the four Chaos gods. The Iron Warriors represent Chaos Undivided, a group not beholden to one Chaos god but instead embracing chaos as a whole.
