Thick as Thieves sneaks into May 20th release date

Renewed focus on PVE and Co-Op

Thick as Thieves sneaks into May 20th release date

The team at OtherSide Entertainment (helmed by luminaries Warren Spector (Thief III and Deus Ex) and Paul Neurath (Thief and Thief II), and coupled with Game Director Jeff Hickman (Star Wars: The Old Republic , Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot) for a dash of co-op, are precisely the right folks to make a co-op semi-successor to the Thief series. With the recent announcement of a re-alignment towards PvE and cooperative team-ups, the game is shaping up nicely for long-time fans like myself. Today we found out that we don't have to wait a whole lot longer to experience it for ourselves – it's coming May 20th for PC. Let's get into what this game is about, and what we can expect at launch.

Thick as Thieves offers a grand introduction to Kilcairn, a fictional Scottish city full of intrigue and adventure. It’s a tightly curated, multi-hour experience that includes two thieves, two dynamic and highly replayable maps, 16 contracts, and 6 unique pieces of gear.

Offering immersive and dynamic stealth gameplay, the game can be played either solo or co-op. Every heist will be different as players take on contracts, find new gear, explore the history of Kilcairn and its influential families and seize their fortune to become a master thief.

We were impressed by what we saw at Summer Games Fest last year (nabbing one of our coveted "Best of SGF" awards in the process), and this fresh trailer only serves to reinforce that excitement. Game Director Jeff Hickman had this to say:

“Unveiling Thick as Thieves to the world feels like finally springing a long-planned heist. Every mechanic and choice has been made with intent—there is nothing accidental, nothing wasted. Players aren’t just stepping into a game; they’re joining our crew, cracking the lock, and pulling off the score we’ve been quietly building for years. Watching the world slip into this world of thieves and schemes is thrilling, and I can’t wait to see the clever chaos they create.”

With this new emphasis on PvE and cooperative heist goodness, it's a good time to refresh our understanding of the primary features we can expect in the game:

  • Innovative Stealth Action – Classic stealth taken to new heights as players improvise to find creative solutions to pull off audacious heists in a dynamic world that is out to stop them.
  • Team Up or Go Alone – Every thief has their own style. Work alone or find a partner in crime and have each other’s backs, even as the best laid plans start to crumble.
  • Become a Thief – Uncover the secrets of the Constabulary and the mysteries of the nobility while you discover what it takes to become a master thief in the tightly guarded landmarks of Kilcairn.
  • Curated and Replayable – Undertake contracts, upgrade gear, and showcase skills in short, engaging missions that change with every playthrough.

The game is headed our way on May 20th, so stay tuned, and wishlist it if it looks like your jam! I suspect this will be one to watch.
