The Iron Warriors, a mechanically-oriented legion of Chaos Space Marines, are beginning to stir in Warhammer 40,000. Today, Games Workshop announced two new products for Warhammer 40,000 - an Iron Warriors figure and an upgrade sprue that allows players to convert Chaos Space Marines miniatures into Iron Warriors.
The new miniature is Warsmith Kravek Morne, a new character in Warhammer 40K lore. Morne is leading a new excursion against the Imperium of Man, but the purpose and goals of this excursion was left unsaid in the initial article. Morne comes equipped with several pieces of siege equipment and a thunder hammer to use.
The upgrade sprue consists of shoulder pads, heads, and a thunder hammer and power fist for a champion. These are meant to be used in conjunction with generic Chaos Space Marines kits to build a collection of Iron Warriors units.
Although the Iron Warriors are a significant Space Marines legion, they have largely been underrepresented in Warhammer 40K. While four Chaos Space Marine legions have specialty miniatures and their own codexes in Warhammer 40K, players have largely had to kitbash to build an Iron Warriors army. Several specialty miniatures were made for Horus Heresy, a spinoff game of Warhammer 40K, but this appears to be the first 40K release for the Iron Warriors.
