Trench Crusade was a big splash when it debuted this year. The ultra-grim dark setting, beautiful artwork, and rich lore has provided a great alternative to larger wargaming systems.
And now, they're growing. With the release of the Prussian Stosstruppen Warband, Factory Fortress has announced a big change for the future of Trench Crusade with plastic miniatures.
Each "Warband" is going to be 700 Ducats (that's the starting point value for a campaign) composed of 6-10 models. Each box will provide a QR code which will take you to resources including the rules, assembly guides, and LORE! It's effectively a game in a box, which is a great way for folks who don't have 3D printing capabilities to get right in.
From the hobby perspective, I'm really happy to also read that the sprues will come with different wargear options, so I can customize my Trench Pilgrims exactly as I want them.

Additionally, there will be Troop Boxes, Elite Boxes, and Hero Boxes, each containing different models that generally align with the existing ruleset. The Troop Boxes are very exciting because they will be multi-part, so once again, they're giving us options!
Now, this all comes at a price. In 2024, their Kickstarter very much relied on STLs, and print on demand. However, speaking from personal experience, the quality from that print on demand left a lot to be desired, as pieces arrived bent, or missing entirely, and while Factory Fortress was awesome in fulfilling folks requests, this move to plastic will ensure higher quality pieces, but they will not release any major releases in STL or Resin in the future.
I think this is fine, but sound off in the comments! Are you excited for the plastic sprues or are you upset at losing the STLs?
