You may have seen my review for The Dragon Prince: Season 6! Well, yesterday launched the brand new The Dragon Prince: Xadia game from Netflix and Wonderstorm. Below is the press release from their celebration of this achievement.
Today Wonderstorm took a major leap forward in its transmedia mission by releasing The Dragon Prince: Xadia, an all-new, cooperative action RPG based on the Emmy® Award-winning series The Dragon Prince. Available now on iOS and Android devices via Netflix Games, The Dragon Prince: Xadia is an action-packed adventure containing dozens of hours of challenging content, deep character progression, awesome loot and gear, unique enemies, and gigantic bosses.
On the other side of the transmedia coin, Season 6 of the animated series premiered on July 26th as #1 show on Netflix Kids & Family in the US and many other countries. Early reviews are stellar, and Forbes calls it “the best the Netflix series has been since Season 3,” adding “[Season 6] thrusts the story forward in big, unexpected ways.” Aaron Ehasz, series co-creator, said: “This season is a culmination of so many stories and character arcs – it is truly a crescendo season. Without spoilers, I will say that the events in episodes 608 and 609 will change everything – so hold on tight!”
Wonderstorm’s creative team and series voice actors were at San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate these epics launches with the fans, who were treated to several behind-the-scenes looks and a glimpse of the property’s future. Racquel Belmonte, voice of fan-favorite Claudia, and Boone Williams, voice of new celestial elf Astrid, joined the worldwide watch party during Friday’s premiere as SDCC screened the entirety of Season 6. On Saturday, Wonderstorm’s cast and crew shared insights into Season 6, the game’s development journey, and the future of the Dragon Prince saga. Ehasz and co-creator Justin Richmond revealed that the next season (named “Book 7: Dark”) will wrap up the Mystery of Aaravos arc. The third and final arc of the saga (still unnamed, though Ehasz teased more would be revealed at New York Comic-Con), will take place over 3 additional seasons. All fans in attendance also received an SDCC-exclusive enamel pin of “Natamus Rayla,” a legendary-tier skin from the game’s launch season.
THE DRAGON PRINCE: XADIA VIDEO GAME
Available now on Netflix Games, The Dragon Prince: Xadia is a cooperative action RPG (roleplaying game) developed in-house by Wonderstorm’s AAA team of game developers. With its large global reach and as the home of the animated series, Netflix was a natural partner for publishing the game, enabling it to reach existing fans of the series and newcomers alike, all without any extra fees or in-app purchases. “Xadia is an exciting multiplayer experience that expands the world and characters of The Dragon Prince and brings new depth not yet explored in the series,” said Justin Richmond, game director. “It’s a core game made by some of the best developers I’ve worked with, and we’re so glad you can finally play it with us!”
