Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution launched today

If you're a fan of the Shantae series, then you know there's one game that slipped under the radar, and WayForward has heard your please to make the series whole. As of right now, you can pick up Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution! If you're unfamiliar with the game, here's a little bit about its origins and this completely rebuilt title:

Originally developed for the Game Boy Advance system before being placed on indefinite hiatus, the console/PC version of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution realizes a dream that began more than two decades ago, allowing players to discover the missing chapter between the original Shantae (2002) and Shantae: Risky's Revenge (2010).

When nefarious pirate Risky Boots unleashes her earth-shattering plan to leave Sequin Land spinning, Shantae must turn the tectonic tables on her nemesis by using her trademark hair-whipping abilities and magical creature transformations as she explores mix-and-match multilayered levels. As players journey through scrambled lands, misplaced towns, monster-filled crypts, and daunting labyrinths, they'll encounter unforgettable characters like Rottytops, Bolo, and Sky, some of whom are meeting each other for the first time. The game can be experienced with HD character portraits and illustrations, or with the original pixel art in Classic Mode, plus a thrilling local multiplayer Battle Mode will let up to four players compete for supremacy in a series first.

Exclusive to the Deluxe Edition of the game are three extra costumes — Relic Hunter, High Voltage, and Sizzle Armor — which alter Shantae's sprites and in-game portraits, and provide a boost to her magic-attack capabilities.

In addition to the digital version of the game, a physical version of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is available to preorder from Limited Run Games for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC in standard, Classic, and Revolutionary Editions.
