If you're into VR like I am, you're very interested in the production progress around the upcoming Crystal Super. While we reviewed the Crystal Light recently, if you're interested in jumping into the next-generation of virtual reality headsets, then the Crystal's 50 or 57 PPD models and their unbeatable clarity might be more what you're searching for. In this recent update the team confirmed that they're now shipping the 50 PPD models, and that the component shortages that have caused issues with the 57 PPD and Ultrawide versions have finally been resolved. This puts that device on track to start shipping pre-orders by the time you read this, with a transition to an "in stock" state for general purchase during the week of October 5th.

We also saw another update that I had missed – a major update to the Pimax software that enables GPU upscaling (FSR and NIS), sharpness, and Quadview customization. An upgrade for the Pimax Crystal Super, Crystal Light, and even the original Crystal headset, this newest update does all of this while also (somehow!) reducing CPU usage, and improving tracking stability! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so let's get a look at that sharpness improvement:

As you can see, the individual slices on the dial become visible, the blades on the fans are de-noised and clearer, and the analog readout becomes useable instead of a blur. In that video, we also see a number of games like F1 2024, DCS World, and others running with the new settings firmly in place, all while maintaining the improved sharpening and a stable and high framerate around 90fps. See for yourself:

We should see our first review of production units, as well as a wider variety of benchmarks across a larger hardware pool very soon. Stay tuned here at GamingTrend – this is NOT our only Pimax announcement for today!
