MSI showcases portable Level 2 EV Charger at CES 2026

Level 2 charging on the go!

MSI showcases portable Level 2 EV Charger at CES 2026

MSI has long been working in the compute and peripheral space, but most recently they've gotten into the EV charging space.  We're working through a review of the EZ Life charger, but at CES we saw the announcement of their next iteration – the EZGo.  The EZ Go will provide a mobile solution just as powerful as a home charger, but in a remarkably compact form factor.

The system will ship with both a standard NEMA 5-15 1.4 kW charge plug (that's the standard wall plug here in the United States), as well as a NEMA 14-50 9.6 kW Level 2 charger.  Best of all, it'll fit in the included storage bag, allowing you to easily tuck it into your trunk for ease of transport.

The MSI team went all out to ensure that this device is safe and reliable.  Not only is it UL certified in multiple ways (UL 2594 - Charger Safety, UL 2231 - Human Safety, UL 2263 - Cable Safety, UL 746C - Premium Plastic, and UL 94 VO - Top Fire Safety), it also has built in thermal sensing to ensure that, in the case there ever were a fault of some sort, the device would shut off, preventing a fire from occurring at the receptacle.  Additionally, it's moisture and dust proof, and can withstand a staggering 44,000 pounds of crushing force against the hardened plastic case.  Yes, that's 44,000 pounds – not a typo!

The secret sauce comes from the EZgo's software, aConnect.  It allows a number of features and functionality including realtime feedback on the charge status, multi-tenant charging should you be using it in that sort of environment, current control if you want to slow down your charge for some reason, and even scheduling to power when charging is cheapest. The screen on the cover will also display all of these things, as well as the current status of the device and the charge for ease of read from a distance.

The team, like all of MSI's support, is US-based, with both live chat and phone support, and the device will sport a 3 year warranty.

Available in Matte White and Titan Grey, the MSI EZgo will on sale this spring, with a MSRP of $349.  Folks who pre-order will also get a charger holder and cable management hook to keep things off the floor and tidy.

We'll be looking at these devices in the near future, so stay tuned for that coverage, as well as our full review of the EZ Life charger, right here at GamingTrend.com
