"Mortal Shell II represents Playstack's biggest ever game investment by an order of magnitude," said Playstack VP Publishing Rob Crossley.
He added: "The first Mortal Shell marked a turning point for Playstack. Our triumphs in the premium indie space with the likes of BalatroAbiotic Factor and The Case of the Golden Idol were built on the success we achieved with Mortal Shell. I’m delighted we’re going full circle, channelling our resources back to Cold Symmetry with their biggest project yet in Mortal Shell II. Their vision for the game has been a consistent source of confidence and inspiration.”
Mortal Shell II expands upon the core of the original with unrestricted, adrenaline-charged combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration within a compact and immersive interconnected open world.
Mortal Shell II is the result of our obsession with dark fantasy, action RPGs, and high-stakes combat,” said Cold Symmetry co-founders Andrew McLennan-Murray, Anton Gonzalez, and Vitaly Bulgarov in a joint statement.“It is a vision shaped by everything we love about these genres, distilled into a single, relentless experience,” the trio added.
Founded in 2017 by four developers breaking away from triple-A to make a passion project, Cold Symmetry has since grown into a distributed development studio of 30 developers.
