Capcom officially confirmed Leon S. Kennedy as the second playable character in Resident Evil Requiem during The Game Awards 2025, putting an end to months of speculation that intensified after the PlayStation Store accidentally leaked an updated cover art showing an older, weathered version of the iconic protagonist.
Set roughly three decades after the Raccoon City outbreak, the game will feature dual protagonists with contrasting gameplay styles: Grace Ashcroft focuses on classic survival horror elements including resource management and puzzle-solving, while Leon delivers explosive action sequences showcasing his signature combat moves like roundhouse kicks and even wielding a chainsaw against enemies.
The trailer also introduced Dr. Victor Gideon as the game's antagonist and demonstrated the ability to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
