Today, Square Enix released new information on the upcoming Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, focusing on the game's expanded job system and vicious monsters players can fight throughout the world.
Unlike previous versions of the game, characters have unique starter vocations right at the beginning of the game, giving players a taste of the possible customization before unlocking the full system later on in the game. Additionally, there are 10 beginner vocations to choose from, such as warrior, mage, or sailor. Players can also unlock intermediate and advanced vocations, like Druid and Hero, by meeting certain requirements.

Can't pick just one vocation? Characters can take advantage of the new moonlighting system to assign two advanced vocations to a single character, granting the benefits of both. Players could combine two spellcasting vocations for a wide variety of magic, or mix magic with melee for a more all around approach.
In Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, players will collect mysterious stone tablets to transport them to lands where monsters roam free. New to Reimagined are vicious monsters, stronger versions of normal foes that can be found on the world map. Defeating these tough terrors will reward their hearts, which can be equipped as accessories for special effects.

Finally, a demo for the game is currently available on all platforms, taking players from the start of the game to the end of the Ballymolly storyline. Players can import their demo save into the final game, and playing the demo will reward an additional costume for Maribel in the full game, her Day Off Dress.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined launches February 5th, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
