I love kitty cats, so this game has my attention. Announced this week, Copycat is the story of a kitty who is doing great until it gets out of the house. When it comes back, it’s been replaced. I worry all the time about my cat getting out, so this side of the story sounds very intriguing. Check out the reveal trailer above, and the details below!

Copycat is a  wholesome, narrative-driven game about rejection, belonging and the true meaning of home. It is an intimate story that cherishes the human-pet bond in all its forms. The game’s colourful visuals delight the senses while exploring dark emotional depths of the human condition. Copycat is a game at the alchemy of ethics, aesthetics and wonder.

We follow the tale of Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who would much rather be in the wild than be readopted again. Dawn actually believes she is a wild cat and plans on escaping as soon as she gets the chance.

But Dawn has second thoughts when she meets new owner Olive, a lonely older woman mourning the disappearance of her beloved furry companion. Together Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship, as two broken hearts mend one another and learn to beat as one.

Then, everything changes when Olive falls ill, and a stray copycat takes the opportunity to steal Dawn’s place in the home—forcing Dawn onto the streets. Wander alleyways, fences and rooftops as Dawn tries to make her way back home and be reunited with Olive. But when she arrives, will Olive recognise her? How will Olive make the choice between cats? Or was Dawn the copycat all along?
