Augments and Research
Optimize Your Kit: Optimize your Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades by equipping Augments that change how they work.

Major and Minor Augments: Each Perk, Ammo Mod, and Field Upgrade can be equipped with one Major and one Minor Augment (to begin with).

Researching Augments: Unlock additional Augments by researching them. Augment Research progress gained in Black Ops 6 will be continued in Black Ops 7.

Complete Coverage on Augments Intel: We’ve prepared an entire separate Augment Research Blog to detail all the returning, adjusted, and new Augments available across all Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. Learn all about them here! To recap:
  • Each Perk, Ammo Mod, and Field Upgrade comes with eight Augments to Research. Four are Major, four are Minor, as well as a second Minor Augment Slot once all other Research has been completed for that Enhancement.
  • Ensure you choose a Perk, Ammo Mod, or Field Upgrade to actively Research.
  • Augments unlock once you choose to Research them, and play Zombies matches.
  • You can swap Active Researching to a different Enhancement at any time.
  • Remember to access the “Equip Augments” Menu and choose the Major and (1-2) Minor Augments prior to a Match for all Enhancements (Perks, Ammo Mods, Field Upgrades) you intend to choose or try out.
Augment Research Access
Augment Research — the ability to power up Field Upgrades, Ammo Mods, and Perks — only becomes accessible once you reach Level 11 in Level Unlocks. At this point, you can access the Augment Research menu and begin (or continue) your experimentations! Augment Research does not “relock” if you Prestige; it becomes permanently accessible once you reach Player Level 11.

If you have Augment Research content from Black Ops 6, this is carried over into the Black Ops 7Augments menu. While you can utilize unlocked Augments at Launch, further Augment Research occurs only after you unlock this Feature.

From Directed to Cursed: Modes and More
Whether you’re slowly uncovering the stark, inter-dimensional terror of Ashes of the Damned, or you want to get into the Dark Aether and slay at the highest rounds possible, there’s a match type available for you:

Training Course: New to Black Ops Zombies? Learn the basics for Round Based Zombies down on Vandorn Farm.

Standard: Traditional, Round-Based Zombies on the biggest RBZ map ever: Ashes of the Damned.

Directed (Season 01): A streamlined path through a Zombies map, where objectives and progression are guided for the Main Quest. To ensure Zombies players can fully explore Ashes of the Damned with as few spoilers as possible, this mode will launch at the start of Season 01 later this year.

Survival: Attempt to survive in a smaller, confined location for as long as possible. The first Survival map, Vandorn Farm, was playable at the Black Ops 7 Beta and is available at launch.

Cursed: A more challenging experience for advanced players. Additionally, players can discover and activate Relics to face even harder challenges in exchange for new levels of power and rewards.

Another Glimpse at Cursed Mode
Once you’ve found out how to access Cursed, the real challenge begins. Your focus now shifts to the following rules that govern this mode:
  • Relics: Acquire Relics by completing Challenges in Cursed Mode.
  • Tiers: Equip Relics to increase your current Tier Level and add unique challenges and bonuses to your Match.
  • Rewards: Complete Cursed at different Tier Levels to unlock exclusive rewards.
Relics: These are significant debuffs to increase the challenge in a Cursed Match. There are nine to find across Ashes of the Damned. The more potent the Relic, the greater the challenge you face when the Relic is chosen. However, the more potent the Relic, the greater your Tier power becomes:

Tiers: With Relics adding significant challenges to your matches, you’ll want some otherworldly assistance as well. This is where Tier Unlocks come in.
  • There are three Tiers to Unlock before you drop into your next Cursed match.
  • A Tier Bar fills up as you choose the Relics you wish to employ for your next match. The only way to unlock Tiers is to pick Relics.
  • The more potent the Relic, the more of the Tier Bar it unlocks.
  • As you continue to play more Cursed matches, you’ll find clues to unlock more Relics.
Rewards: Aside from unearthing some fiendish challenges as you hunt down all nine Relics, there are fabled rewards on offer for those brave (or deranged) enough to complete Ashed of the Damned in Cursed Tier I, II, and III Modes!

Wonder Weapons, Customization, and HUD

Wonder Weapons and Master Badges

You can additionally select and inspect the three hand-held Wonder Weapons available at launch: the Ray Gun, Ray Gun Mark II, and Necrofluid Gauntlet. And if you access the Career > Challenges > Mastery Badges Menu, you’ll see in addition to all the Main Weapons, Melee Weapons, and Equipment, you now have Mastery Badges for Wonder Weapons:

Ray Gun
The all-time classic Wonder Weapon for blasting maggot-sacks to atoms.

Ray Gun Mark II
The successor to the Ray Gun concentrates its power into 3-round bursts that will pierce an entire line of enemies!

Necrofluid Gauntlet
Give your enemies the finger with this symbiotic claw that fires liquid spikes and reels in stolen life-energy.

Heads Up: Display Customization is Here
The Default HUD layout with the “Aetherium” theme.

Black Ops 7
allows more customization of your Heads Up Display (HUD) than ever before. Access the Career > Customize > Zombies HUD Presets Menu and select your HUD layout, edit HUD colors, and modify the Minimap. Also new to Black Ops 7 is the HUD Theme. The one shown above, “Aetherium,” will be available at launch, designed to provide more Zombies-centric accents to your customizable HUD elements. Expect more HUD Themes as the seasons progress.

Treyarch has been refining the Interface options who are looking for an even more streamlined look to their HUD. Here’s what to expect at launch, and beyond:
  • A robust set of options in the Settings > Interface > Gameplay HUD, which allows you to tailor your Zombies HUD to your liking. Recommended settings for a simpler Zombies interface are listed below.
  • In the Career > Customise > Zombies HUD Presets Menu are a number of layout options, which can be adjusted in any game mode. Each has a preset location for each section of the HUD.
  • New to Black Ops 7, aside from the Default Theme available across all Modes, is the new “Aetherium” Zombies Theme, which imbues your HUD elements with spectral Dark Aether details.
  • Players will also be able to set their own dedicated HUD Preset settings for Zombies and Multiplayer separately.
Recreating a Legacy Zombies HUD Layout

Dead Ops Arcade 4: Pure Chicken Chaos

Last, but certainly not least, is the return of Dead Ops Arcade: Endless undead, ridiculous firepower, secret rooms, pure chicken chaos... and one very angry Silverback.

Gameplay and Progression
Battle solo or in a squad of up to four with an initial Difficulty Level of Casual and Normal.
  • Casual Mode (Squads or Solo): Venture forth to topple the Silverback Clan and win back Fidolina’s heart. The trail runs short — but no less savage. Are you chicken enough? Top-Down and First-Person Perspectives are available from the start of the match.
  • Normal Mode (Squads or Solo): Set out on an endless crusade to break the Silverback Clan and win back Fidolina’s heart. The Silverback Trail is long, lethal, and unforgiving. Got the gizzards?
Explore 80 levels and more than 20 arenas, unleashing chaos against the Silverback clan’s armies and their vengeful new patriarch, Papaback. Expect an arsenal of outrageous firepower — including Zombies Wonder Weapons like the Wunderwaffe DG-2 and the Jet Gun — alongside vehicles, Bonus Rooms, Silverback Challenges, and Slayer Maps. The new SlayerMart hub allows players to buy from over 70 upgrades, pushing chaotic runs ever deeper into enemy territory.

Dead Ops Arcade Integration, Global Progression
For the first time, DOA embraces full Round-Based Zombies mechanics with Ammo Mods, Field Upgrades, and GobbleGums, all tailored to enhancing your Dead Ops Arcade experience. Both top-down and first-person camera options are supported, letting players switch perspectives without losing pace. Every run contributes to unified progression, earning Player XP that advances shared Player levels across Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Call of DutyWarzone.

The rest is up to the community to discover at launch on November 14! Happy slaying, and we’ll see you online.
