Today, Square Enix announced that the NieR series is continuing, specifically NieR: Automata. This announcement celebrates 10 million copies of NieR: Automata sold.

Set in the distant future, humanity has retreated to the moon, overwhelmed by the overwhelming military might of the “Machine Lifeforms” deployed by the aliens. Players take on the role of “2B,” a member of the newly formed android unit “YoRHa,” and throw themselves into the fierce battle to reclaim Earth.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… has sold 2 million copies. It depicts the origin story that shaped the world of NieR:Automata. The protagonist is a kind-hearted boy living in a remote village. To save his sister Yona, who has fallen ill with the incurable disease known as the Black Hide Disease, he sets out on a journey with the mysterious talking book, the White Book, to find the Sealed Words, his only hope.
