Free League has announced that a stand-alone version of Dragonbane, Dragonbane: Trudvang, will be coming to Kickstarter on February 17th:
Free League Publishing announced that Dragonbane: Trudvang, a stand-alone tabletop roleplaying game based on the multiple award-winning Dragonbane RPG, will be launched on Kickstarter on February 17, at 3 pm CET (9 am US Eastern, 6 am US Pacific).
Prospective backers can sign up to follow the project here to be sure not to miss the early backer bonus: a deluxe art print featuring the new cover art by the masterful Paul Bonner.

Trudvang is a world of shadowed woods and fathomless mists, of dreadful beasts and unsung heroes, of wrathful gods and endless mystery – deeply original but with strong roots in Nordic mythology.
Dragonbane: Trudvang, produced by Free League under license from CMON, will include complete rules, fully compatible with the Dragonbane core game.
The Dragonbane: Trudvang Kickstarter campaign will offer no less than four masterfully illustrated hardback volumes in Swedish and English:
- Core Rules: Complete rules based on Dragonbane, including Trudvang kins, professions, skills, heroic abilities, and magic – wielded by vitner weavers and dimwalkers.
- World Book: A deep dive into Trudvang's history, peoples, and regions – from Stormlands to Westmark, from Soj to the Great Ice Plains, richly illustrated.
- Jorgi's Bestiary: The classic monster manual for Trudvang returns, featuring beasts from braskelwurm and draugr to hrimtursir and yggdras, all adapted for Dragonbane.
- The Black Sun: A legendary four-part epic campaign in Trudvang, revised and published in English for the first time.

The Trudvang brand and its original content was created by Theodore Bergqvist and Magnus Malmberg of Riotminds, as a campaign world for their Swedish edition of Dragonbane (Drakar och Demoner) in the early 2000s. Trudvang later took a life of its own in the separate Trudvang Chronicles RPG and the board game Trudvang Legends by CMON.
The art of Dragonbane: Trudvang will mainly be drawn from over two decades of amazing Trudvang illustrations by masters like Paul Bonner, Alvaro Tapia, Daniel Zrom, and others. Paul Bonner has also created the new cover art for the Dragonbane: Trudvang World Book, and Francesca Baerald has drawn a new world map of Trudvang.
The work of writing, editing, and adapting Trudvang to the current version of Dragonbane will be spearheaded by Magnus Seter, a veteran RPG writer (Cyberpunk 2020, Mutant Chronicles, Forbidden Lands, Dragonbane) who also worked on Trudvang in its early days.
"When we heard that Free League had licensed Trudvang from CMON, and that Magnus Seter would be leading the work on this new edition, we were naturally delighted. Most of all because the world gets to live on – but also because Trudvang has, in many ways, found its way home again," says Theodore Bergqvist in the preface to the new edition.
