Funnylocks (CEO Chae Hee-sang) announced its participation in the ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B,’ which will be held at KINTEX Hall 1 in Ilsan from May 23rd (Thursday) to 26th (Sunday).
Funnylocks is a company that develops the game ‘Unstoppable: Breakout,’ where people who like the soul genre gather to create a unique atmosphere in the existing soul genre. It aims to provide various entertainment for the PC platform and multi-platforms and pursues package and console games, focusing on global trends. It is comprised of capable employees with the latest Unreal Engine 5 technology and strives to bring joy to many people, according to the company.
The ‘Unstoppable: Breakout,’ to be unveiled at this exhibition, is a modern soul-like genre game that lightly implements the genre’s advantages for users who find soul-like games difficult.
Soul-like games were once a genre with a thick layer of enthusiasts due to their high difficulty and unique complex worldview, but recent trends show it as one of the popular genres unlike before. Therefore, Funnylocks focused on lowering the barriers of elements of soul games’ strengths while maintaining an appropriate balance to preserve the genre’s characteristics. Like other soul genres, users learn and progress through the game by themselves.
A Funnylocks official explained, “We plan to participate in this exhibition to communicate directly with users, explain the game, and receive feedback for future updates. We also decided to participate to promote Unstoppable: Breakout and meet with global publishers.”
Funnylocks, which has participated in various global game exhibitions as a booth, such as the Taipei Game Show, G-STAR, Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo (KBEE), and Korea Expo in Osaka, has received proposals for PC and console publishing from various industry experts. It has also signed a contract with Innova, Russia’s largest publisher, which has published games like Lineage and Black Desert and currently provides services in the CIS region.
Furthermore, Funnylocks is targeting the North American market. The game was developed against the backdrop of New York during the game planning stage, and the atmosphere, background, and objects in the game were all implemented regarding the US office. The story is also structured based on American movies or dramas’ development and composition style. In-game interfaces/voices are also implemented based on English to target the North American market as the primary goal.
An official said, “We are preparing for console porting for ‘Unstoppable: Breakout’ and plan to provide various multi-platforms. We will also participate in domestic and international game exhibitions to further promote ‘Unstoppable: Breakout,'” adding, “We will then plan the sequel to ‘Unstoppable: Breakout’ and proceed with new game development.”
The ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B,’ hosted by Gyeonggi Content Agency and KINTEX, is themed ‘More Than Just the Joy of Gaming’ and features exhibitions and experiences of new games from Korean and international game companies. Visitors can enjoy side programs like the retro game market, esports competitions, and cosplay events.
