CRKD unveils Nitro Deck 2, pre-orders open now

I've been tweeting at CRKD for some time about a new Nitro Deck. While I won't take direct credit for this result, I will happily await this new device. CRKD dropped the news of the Nitro Deck 2 last night after The Game Awards, and it looks great. With a new design to accommodate the different sizes of the Switch and Switch 2, I look forward to getting one in hand to see how the team has adjusted and tweaked an already fantastic product. Livermore, CA – December 11, 2025 – CRKD™, the premium collectible gaming brand, announced today the blockbuster sequel of the season, with Nitro Deck 2 pre-orders starting today, and expected to ship beginning Spring 2026.

Announced today exclusively during a special presentation taking place on the IGN post show for The Game Awards 2025, the Nitro Deck 2 is the much-requested successor to the original CRKD Nitro Deck, the debut product from the popular gaming brand and a highly acclaimed accessory for the original Nintendo® Switch™.

Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, discerning gamers have been feverishly awaiting news on Nitro Deck 2, excited at the prospect of levelling up their new hardware with the many benefits offered by the Nitro Deck eco-system. Engineered to elevate handheld play on Nintendo Switch 2, the Nitro Deck 2 builds on everything players loved about the original Nitro Deck, now with even greater comfort, precision, and performance. With improved ergonomics, zero stick drift thanks to all-new CRKD CaptiStick™ Technology, and a suite of customizable features, the Nitro Deck 2 is handheld nirvana, created for players who demand the best from every gaming session.

Fully backward compatible with the original Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED, the Nitro Deck 2 is also ideal for use with PC, Mobile, and Smart TV’s via integrated Bluetooth® technology. Designed and ultimately shaped with invaluable feedback from the CRKD community, the Nitro Deck 2 features a retractable locking mechanism that ensures a secure fit across both Switch and Switch 2, seamlessly bridging multiple hardware generations, for a truly flexible, future-ready experience.

Built from the ground up to take advantage of several new engineering innovations, the console tablet no longer slides into the Nitro Deck 2 shell. In a marked improvement, designed to pose less risk to the console, gamers now set their tablet in place, then use the integrated retractable locking-dial located on the rear of the rubberized Nitro Deck 2 backplate to tighten securely. Ensuring a secure grip and lasting protection, the Nitro Deck 2 includes a legacy adapter should gamers wish to use with the original Nintendo Switch or OLED Switch, perfect for those with both generations of console hardware. Even more functionality is present thanks to Bluetooth, allowing gamers to choose between Switch 2, Switch, PC, Mobile, and Smart TVs, or simply use the U Adapter included in pack, for low latency wired handheld play.

User ergonomics have also received an upgrade with Nitro Deck 2, now featuring an offset right Thumbstick for a more natural and ergonomic feel. In addition, the outer shell design has been refined, featuring sculpted contours for a noticeably improved in-hand feel when compared to the original Nitro Deck.

Nitro Deck 2 introduces CRKD CaptiStick Technology, featuring capacitor-based Thumbsticks that deliver drift-free precision, ultra-responsive control, and adjustable resistance. Unlike Hall Effect sticks, CaptiSticks are immune to magnetic interference and use a zero-contact design, preventing wear and ensuring that stick drift never interrupts gamers’ sessions again. The advanced sensor system delivers precise input while maintaining low power consumption, and players can also adjust stick resistance to match their preferred feel, from quicker movement to tighter, more controlled tracking.

Nitro Deck 2 retains the programmable Back Buttons which proved so useful on the original but now includes new L2 and R2 secondary Shoulder Buttons for even more customization options. Stick Tops remain swappable and compatible with existing CRKD Stick Top packs, and a new swappable D-Pad system debuts with two accessory packs offering four styles in total, including an all-black and a metallic CRKD set. 

The Triggers featured on Nitro Deck 2 have been upgraded to smooth, tactile Digital Triggers, and the Nitro Deck 2 now includes a more durable metal kickstand. Motion control compatibility allows gamers to make use of motion controls in supported games, and adjustable rumble ensures that players feel every move with impact. Gamers can continue to fine-tune performance with Adjustable Rumble, Deadzone Mode, Turbo Mode, and additional customization options, all designed to perfectly tailor the experience for each individual user.

Nitro Deck 2 is not just for handheld play, also working as a wireless or wired controller for PC, Mobile Devices, Smartphones, and Smart TVs, allowing players to enjoy seamless control even while the console is docked. When the console is not inserted, the included centrepiece can be installed for a clean display setup or to use Nitro Deck 2 as a dedicated pro-style controller.
