Bandai Namco has dropped a new trailer for their Dark Souls-inspired anime action RPG, featuring the long-awaited release date. Code Vein will be out on both PS4 and Xbox One on September 27th, 2018, with the Steam release on the 28th.
A collector’s edition of Code Vein has also been announced, and will feature a copy of the game, an art book, the game’s original soundtrack, additional gear for your character, and a figure of Mia Karnstein, a character from the game. Unfortunately, the North American release of the collector’s edition has yet to be confirmed.
Code Vein is the latest project from Bandai’s God Eater team, and it looks to be their most ambitious project to date. The player assumes the role of a vampire, called a Revenant, and fights for survival and blood in the game’s post-apocalyptic world. Blood can be used to gain additional abilities and alter your character’s build—a necessity if you hope to stand a chance against the game’s brutal foes and unrelenting bosses.
Unlike the Souls games that inspired it, Code Vein will feature more extravagant abilities and combat, direct storytelling, and a much livelier color palette. Code Vein is shaping up to be a fresh and unique experience that’s setting itself apart from its contemporaries.
To find out if Code Vein lives up to its expectations, keep your eyes peeled for Gaming Trend’s future review.
