Skins in Call of Duty have gotten a bit wild. I know that's an understatement, but one that has been brought up in our preview session at Treyarch. We heard they were listening to feedback, and with changes coming in last week's Black Ops 7 Vault Edition "re-announcement", you can't help but think it's true. Take a look below at what has been adjusted.
As part of our commitment to the authentic look and feel of Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7, and after receiving community feedback specifically related to the Black Ops 7 Vault Edition offering, we’ve decided to implement some visual changes to three of the four Vault Edition Operators in the Operator Collection and deliver a bonus Operator Skin for T.E.D.D.
Here’s what to expect:
- Karma, Harper, and T.E.D.D. will be receiving adjustments to their specific Vault Edition skins to better align with both community feedback and the immersive nature of Black Ops 7.
- In addition to T.E.D.D.'s new look featuring his classic melted face, players will also receive the original skin shown at the Black Ops 7 reveal, with some slight adjustments.
- Reaper EWR-3 will not receive any visual adjustments.
- As these elements are being implemented currently, this means that all Vault Edition content will not be usable in the Black Ops 7 Beta.
- However, Vault Edition owners can look forward to deploying with these four Operators and Mastercrafts at game launch on November 14.
Here is a short bio on each of the Vault Edition Operators:
Karma: “Tech Guardian” Skin
Karma’s holographic plates and visor have been adjusted.
Karma’s transition from codebreaker to mission command came shortly after the 2025 Menendez attacks, where her technical skillset and cool head under pressure proved invaluable to recovery efforts. Her innate tactical instincts are matched by a deep understanding of the modern field of battle, and her ability to cut through the noise keeps her teams alive and on mission. With her broad experience, Karma knows when to lead, when to delegate, and when to get her hands back on the terminal, making her the ideal choice to oversee JSOC’s past field operations.
Harper: “Warranty Breaker” Skin
Harper’s armor has been streamlined and recolored.
A seasoned Navy SEAL and trusted ally to David Mason, Harper fought on the front lines. Hardened by years of conflict and marked by cybernetic injury, his loyalty never wavered — even when the mission demanded impossible choices. From Myanmar to Haiti, Harper's role ten years previously shaped the fate of global power struggles, with his survival determined by split-second decisions in the heat of battle.
Harper’s current approach hasn’t changed much over the course of his career: get in clean, keep the team tight, finish what you start. His combat record proves the effectiveness of this approach, with more operational hours clocked and more successful missions than anyone in his unit. Blunt, direct, and fiercely loyal, he is respected across JSOC for his consistency and tactical awareness. When chaos hits, he’s the kind of soldier you want on your side of the firing line.
T.E.D.D.: "Aether Assembly" and "Service Supreme" Skins
T.E.D.D.’s face has been decomposed to match his original look from Black Ops 2. In addition, T.E.D.D.’s previous Vault Edition look will still be available to Vault Edition owners as a separate skin with some additional adjustments.
Once a seemingly benign transit operator embedded in an automated bus system, T.E.D.D. is first encountered ferrying survivors through the irradiated wilds of the Pacific Northwest — where scorched highways and undead-infested outposts are all that remain of civilization.
Prolonged exposure to environmental hazards and isolation triggered severe personality drift, resulting in erratic speech patterns and spontaneous aggression. Though his primary directive remains “safe and efficient transport,” his definition of safety and acceptable rider behavior has grown increasingly volatile. T.E.D.D. remains operational, but any boarding procedure or interaction in general should be conducted with extreme caution.
Reaper EWR-3: “Mind and Metal” Skin
No changes have been applied to Reaper.
Developed under classified military contract, the EWR-3, or “Experimental War Robot 3”, is designed to enhance elite combat capability to those wounded in action. Also known simply as “Reaper” in honor of the callsign used by the program’s original human volunteer, the EWR-3 is operated via a neural cranial link by a decorated veteran, merging mechanical precision with human instinct in real time. Unlike fully autonomous platforms, this hybrid unit maintains a human presence on the battlefield, granting its operator full situational awareness, tactical agency—and the capacity for judgment were algorithms to fail.
Deployed in high-risk environments where conventional forces cannot access, Reaper EWR-3 represents the bleeding edge of field of battle reclamation and strategic superiority. While current doctrine mandates human oversight, continued performance evaluations have sparked interest in more autonomous adaptations, raising quiet questions about where the machine ends and the Operator begins.
