Asmodee has announced plans to publish a new Zombicide title, the company's first since acquiring the IP last year. A preview page for Fantasy Zombicide: Dead Men Tales went up on Gamefound today, teasing the first plans for Zombicide since Asmodee purchased the board game franchise from CMON back in 2025. The new game is designed by Jean-Baptiste Lullien and Nicolas Raoult and will be published by Asmodee's Fantasy Flight Games studio. The crowdfunding campaign will launch this month.

A description of the game indicates some new mechanics, such as the use of cannons and rope, as well as a new nautical-themed villain called the Governor. No word on whether this version of Zombicide will include the swaths of miniatures previous games were known for when the game was held by CMON.

The Zombicide franchise involves a group of survivors working cooperatively to fight through swarms of zombies to complete various missions. Each survivor typically has some kind of unique ability that can be leveled up, but the zombie waves in the game are endless, meaning that there's more to the game than simply hacking and slashing the zombies into submission. Occasionally, the game system throws bulked up zombies that can't be killed easily into the mix as well. Under CMON, several versions of Zombicide were released, including versions that used DC and Marvel heroes.
