Asgard’s Wrath 2 gets an upgrade during new LTM event

Asgard’s Wrath 2 is a gold standard for VR games, up there with the likes of Half-Life: Alyx. We said as much in our review. On that note, a great game is getting even better, as with the latest limited event rolling into Asgard’s Wrath 2, a few visual improvements have been made. You can check the details out below.

It’s a Smiter Epidemic, as the award-winning Asgard’s Wrath 2 kicks off its latest time-limited Cosmic Event. But that’s not all! This month, Asgard’s Wrath 2 also gets upgraded visuals on Meta Quest 3, making everything from the Great Sand Sea to Muspelheim look more detailed. Check out more info on the changes and the Cosmic Event below.

A new look for Anubis (and more)

Asgard’s Wrath 2 already looked pretty damn good, but this month Sanzaru delivers a wealth of visual improvements to Meta Quest 3, pushing the headset to its limits.

You’ll see changes everywhere you go, from the arid desert landscape of the Great Sand Sea to the crags on Tanuu’s ancient face. Improved shaders, updated terrain textures, and more detailed structures make the world of Asgard’s Wrath 2 feel more immersive than ever, and a number of characters (particularly the larger ones) have received facelifts as well.

These visual improvements can be toggled in the pause menu under Settings → User Interface → Enhanced Rendering Features. Please note that you can either turn on the enhanced visuals or 90Hz, but not both. Head on over to the Asgard’s Wrath 2 Discord to see more before-and-after comparisons that show off the upgrades.

A storm of Smiters

Luckily, this month’s Cosmic Event is a perfect excuse to wander the realms and see all the new visual bells and whistles. Smiters have found their way into every nook and cranny of the multiverse—wreaking havoc on hapless monsters, hiding in Loki Anomalies, popping up in the slingshot minigame in the Hideout.

They’ve even infested some previously unexplored regions of The Duat. Prepare to delve into the underworld once again, as Asgard’s Wrath 2 adds Duat-themed Uncharted Rifts to the mix.

Up for some extra-dimensional pest control? Earn unique seasonal rewards by completing the Smiter Epidemic’s Cosmic Objectives and Conquests, including:

  • Defeat the Smiters causing havoc in an Egyptian Monster Den.
  • Help Baba find the friendly Smiter hiding out in Ra’s Abandoned Outpost.
  • Fish out treasures left by Smiters at the Royal Fishing Spot.
  • Find and defeat the Golden Smiter.

In keeping with the increasing influence of The Duat, sending the Smiters packing will let you nab equipment inspired by the Egyptian gods. Rewards include the Sobki Armor set, as tough as the skin of the fierce Nile crocodile, and the Ba Walker Skull, always on the lookout for danger—and its body. There are also some fun Smiter-themed unlocks, including the Sneaky Smiter spectral adornment and Smiter Jump emote.

If you want more information about the Smiter Epidemic, open up Asgard’s Wrath 2 and look for “Cosmic Events” in the news feed.

And remember, if you want to see all of the game’s new visual bells and whistles, you can still receive Asgard’s Wrath 2 for free with the purchase of a new Meta Quest 3 headset through the end of June.* Hot off 29 wins at the NYX Game Awards (including Best Gameplay in a Meta Quest VR Game), see for yourself why Asgard’s Wrath 2 is so critically acclaimed.
