ASCENDANT adds new arena to open beta weekends

I had a lot of fun trying out ASCENDANT a few months ago, and now there’s more to go around. Recent beta testing has gone open, and there’s a new Thunderdome PVP arena available to try. More details are below, check it out as you apply for the beta!

November 19, 2024 – Gear up, FPS fans! The indie team behind ASCENDANT, the retro-futuristic, chaos-fueled, capture-the-flag-on-crack shooter, is pulling out all the stops with a string of focused open beta weekends starting November 22nd. These free-to-play betas promise fresh features, fast-paced gameplay, and smoother performance, with each weekend spotlighting a different game mode to keep players coming back for more.

First up? The PvP-focused Thunderdome update, the most significant feature yet for ASCENDANT, launching exclusively during the upcoming beta. This brutal new PvP arena is where players test their skills, rack up kills, and fight to become the Kill Leader – all while queuing for matches or diving into the arena as its own standalone mayhem. Thunderdome’s dynamic layout (with a sneaky lever to flip things up) and respawn-anytime action make it a true proving ground for legends.

A New Beta Every Other Weekend
But the carnage doesn’t stop there. ASCENDANT is running open betas every other weekend until the end of the year, each with a different focus:

• November 22nd: PvP madness takes centre stage with the Thunderdome.

• December 6th: Get ready for PvE-focused gameplay, focusing on our map-wide events, and where squads will face off against the relentless mutant wildlife, and rogue tech that populate ASCENDANT’s chaotic world.

• December 20th: A festive-themed beta brings holiday cheer… with an edge. Expect surprises, challenges, and a whole lot of fun to close out the year.

For Players New and Old
This open beta series is not just for diehard fans but also for anyone who may have dismissed ASCENDANT previously; “We’ve made huge strides in gameplay, performance, and sheer fun since earlier tests,” says the dev team. “If you haven’t played ASCENDANT before, or haven’t played in a while, there’s never been a better time to jump back in and see what you’ve been missing.”

What Makes ASCENDANT Unique?
Inspired by a blend of classic arcade shooters and modern competitive FPS titles, ASCENDANT combines fast, tactical gunplay with dynamic environments and a vibrant retro-futuristic aesthetic. The developers aim to make a game that’s accessible and social but packed with depth for players who want to grind, compete, or just have a good time with friends.

Beta Details and How to Join
