We're back to recap a great week of comics we read here at GamingTrend.com! Thank you for your patience during our two week break! We have two comics from Dark Horse Comics and one from Titan Manga this week with an interview from Momocon at the end! Hope you enjoy these books as much as we did!

Vatican City – Issue #3

In this final issue, things get... explosive. Since this is a finale, I don't want to spoil much about the actual text, so lets focus on something else, the art.

I loved how the art really added a lot to the fears of the unknown. While we see faces and eyes in particular, everything when it comes to the vampires are covered in mystery. We never actually know where they came from or their end goals, but in this one particular instance at the Vatican, they're there for their queen. The art showing shapes and eyes really bring the mysterious-ness home.

The ending was a bit surprising and leaves the door open in case they do want to do something with this story in the future, and I wouldn't hate that at all.

Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins I – Issue #1

At this point we can say that Vox Machina is one of the most interesting cases of public world-building so far. We've seen this land from Matt Mercer and friends grow from a tabletop show on YouTube to writing TV shows, comic books, and video games (?) all within a decade or so.

Vox Machina Origins I takes place before we've met our heroes in the Actual Play and the majority of the show. We see the twins, Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia, as they attempt to figure out what's going on to the citizens of Stilben. We see some gruesome treatment of a new mother and this leads the twins to move forward with their investigation.

Along the way, our heroes meet a familiar face! (Guess who!) During this time they have a seriously adorable interaction. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Dopeman – Vol. 2

After the first volume, Dopeman had me in a trance. I was a huge fan of the members of the D-Unit and the difference between Dopeman and other manga of similar structure.

Tojima, in most cases, would be considered a bit overpowered in the world. However, for Dopeman, his flaw isn't his power levels, it's how he communicates and works with others within the world.

While there's an overarching plot and theme, sometimes the focus can and should be with the interpersonal relationships between characters like Tojima and Matrix and more. I'm very excited to see the finale of this series!

We Interview: Star Forest

During Momocon 2025 we had a chance to talk with the game developers for the video game attached to the music video attached to the world of Star Forest! This was one of the most interesting groups at Momocon 2025 due to their multi-platform artistry.

They have music, skits, and gaming all in one group with more on the way. Something they mentioned was that they game they designed was actually the arcade cabinet game that you can see inside the music video for Star Forest's single!
